Colin Partridge is a local artist who was born in Bromley, Kent, England in 1942. His father was in the Canadian Forces during the last war, stationed in England. When the war was over his father decided to stay in England with his new bride.
At the age of sixteen Colin immigrated to Canada with his family and settled in Montreal. One year later he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Canadian Forces where he met his wife of thirty-five years and raised a family of three, one son and two daughters. At the age of forty-five he decided to make a career change and joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as a police officer.
One day while visiting his son on Vancouver Island he walked on the beach and saw mountains of driftwood and as he walked he saw many faces in the wood so he gathered up a few pieces and started to carve. He became so obsessed that he soon had many hundreds of them scattered about his home.
Colin is now retired and has started to do large carvings as well as the small ones. He devotes all of his time to being a grandfather and carving. Each piece is numbered, signed and dated.
