A Solemn Vow of Love

La Belle Dame Sans Merci by Sir Frank Dicksee

For my knight in shining armour, may I always be your damsel in distress and the one maid that truly owns your heart.

Maiden:

You came to me a shining knight
embittered by your war
I saw the man trapped within
and knew that there was more
I smoothed the tension from your brow
and breathed in your sweet scent
I lost myself in your deep eyes
and knew my heart was spent.

Knight:

My armour bore no defense
against your tender smile
I think that I may rest here
and stop fighting for a while
your gentle touch soothes my brow
your kisses taste so sweet
I lay down my sword and shield
to place my love at your feet.

Knight:

You are now my maiden fair
a vision so divine
I come to you on bended knee
and ask you to be mine.

Maiden:

My Lord I give to you my hand
our lives are now entwined
I know that a truer love
I never could find.

Knight:

I give to you my solemn vow
your honour to defend
I will raise my arms and fight
for this love that knows no end.

Maiden:

You shall be my one true beau
my love to not forsake
I shall cherish the love you give
this solemn vow I make.
