A disciple of Vallabhacharya, Surdas is famous for his Sur-saravali, containing several thousand of lovely lyrics with captivating descriptions of Krishna's childhood exploits and the love of Radha and Krishna. Great master-composer that he was, in spite of his blindness, he was one of the Ashtachap, or the 8 die- stamps producing coins in the shape of poems- organized as such by Vithalanatha, son of vallabhacharya.
