Nadamuni
While the Alwars represented the emotional
side of Vaishnavism, the acharyas who followed them represented the intellectual
side. Nadamuni was the foremost acharya of the Vaishnavas. By his yogic
powers he is said to have received the divine Prabhandhams straight from
Nammalwar, who lived centuries before him. It was Nadamuni who travelled
over the entire Tamil region to identify the Prabhandhams. He collected
them, classified them, made the redaction, set the hymns to music and
spread them everywhere.
