Dikshidar is the second of the musical trinity of Tamil Nadu. He was a scion of a family of famous musicians  and musicologists. He lived the unostentatious life of a hermit and was not in the least lured by offers from royalty. He lived for 69 years, a total life of dedication to music and devotion to God. His compositions were  mainly in Sanskrit and are today sung at all carnatic music performances.
