Claudia Presacan's Biography
Claudia Maria Presacan was born in Sibiu on December 28, 1979. Her
father, Adrian is a veterinary technician & her mother, Eugenia, is a
housewife. She has 2 younger brothers named Claudiu & Cristian & a
younger sister named Alina. Claudia began gymnastics when she was 7
& she's been on the national team since 1993. Her favorite event is beam
& her favorite gymnast is Nadia Comaneci. In her spare time, Claudia
likes reading, listening to music & watching detective movies. In school,
her favorite subject was English & of all the places she's been, her favorite
was Sabae, Japan. At age 16, Claudia weighed 79 pounds & was 4'10" tall.
She's been a member of 3 Worlds teams & would've made the 1996
Olympic team has she not suffered a broken hand. Claudia retired in
September 1999 from a nagging shoulder injury, just 3 weeks before the
1999 Worlds & less than 1 year before the 2000 Olympics. She also
stated she was tired of Octavian Belu's ways & that was another reason
she retired. However, this didn't last long. Simona Amanar called Claudia
nearly every day begging her to come back to Deva & after a while
Claudia agreed. In 1998-1999, she competed for the Italian club called
Brescia. Nowdays, Claudia is almost 21 & is 5'1" tall & weighs 95 pounds
(1,54m & 43kg). Immediatly following the 2000 Olympics, she announced
her retirement, this time for good. In January 2001 it was confirmed that
Claudia began training for the Romanian National Team in "boating". She
hopes to compete in the 2004 Olympics in her new sport.
