Alexandra Dobrescu's Biography

Alexandra Ionela Dobrescu was born on May 2, 1980 in Targoviste.
Her father, Eugeniu Ion, manages a sports complex in Targoviste & her
mother Tea Valeria, is a housewife. She has 2 older brothers, Laurentiu
& Marian who are members of the Romanian National Judo Team &
a sister named Valentina. Anda began gymnastics in 1987 when she was
7 & says her favorite event was floor. She was a member of the national
team from 1993-1998. Her idols include Nadia Comaneci & Lavinia
Milosovici. In her free time Anda enjoys listening to music & learning
to speak English & reading detective stories. In school she enjoyed
Romanian & English class. Her favorite writer is the national poet Mihai
Eminescu. Anda's competed all over the world, but her favorite places
she's visited are Rome & the Vatican City. At age 16, she was 4'7" tall
& weighed 77 pounds. She retired in 1998 at age 18. It was last reported
in early 1999 that Anda was living in Deva & attending school.
