Andreea Cacovean's Biography

Andreea Cacovean was born in Turda, in the county of Cluj, on
September 15, 1978. Her father, Mircea & her mother, Ana Maria,
are both hydrological technicians. Andreea has an older brother named
Andrei & a younger brother named Mircea. She began gymnastics
when she was selected for the national training center in Deva at age
7. Her favorite event was bars & her favorite gymnasts are Nadia
Comaneci, Ecaterina Szabo, Lavinia Milosovici & Gina Gogean.
Andreea's hobbies include reading detective stories, listening to music
& watching action movies. Her favorite subjects in school were Math
& English, which she speaks very well. Her favorite foods are french
fries & ice cream. Andreea's been all over the world, but her favorite
place to visit was the Netherlands. At age 17, Andreea was 4'9" tall
& weighed 77 pounds. She made the 1996 Olympic team, but just
before the team left Romania for Atlanta, she injured herself & ended
up retiring in late 1996. She was 18. Since 1997 she studied at the
University of Cluj, with the hopes of becomming a coach of aerobics.
Her goal almost came true when she was asked to help establish an
aerobics club, but she quit after some problems. Andreea currently lives
in Cluj with a family but has been offered a job coaching in the the
Netherlands.
