| Alexandra Barac's Biography |
| Alexandra Barac was born on March 5, 1985 in Sibiu, Romania. She began training at CSS Sibiu, but in early 1999 was selected to train with the national team in Deva. Her international career was looking very bright, competing in several international competitions & earning a spot on the 2001 World Championship team. Unfortunatly, shortly before the 2001 Worlds, she injured her back & was left off the team. After being treated in Bucharest for the injury, it was decided that it was best for her to retire. She was only 16 years old. Although she only spent a couple short years on the Romanian team, she definetly earned a lot of fans worldwide, it's a shame her career had to be cut so short. As of December 2001, Alex is now back in regular high school in Sibiu & is living at home. Her back still gives her little problems, but nothing severe. She says she is happy & although she misses gymnastics a lot, she is enjoying her "new" life outside the gym. last updated: December 14, 2001 |
