Ritual for Writers

Decorate the altar any way that inspires you. One way that I decorate it, is to adorne the altar or table with an old lace tablecloth. One large blue candle in the center. Decorate the altar with pens, pencils, notebooks, and paper. Take your tarot deck and remove each of the ACES from the Pentacles, Swords, Cups, and Shields and place them in the quarter of the corresponding elements.
Take a cleansing bath and anoint yourself with oil. Light some incense for creativity, cleansing and inspiration. Using your favorite pen or writing utensil, cast the circle and call the quarters.
"I call the EAST, the watchtowers of AIR,
Banish my flightiness, inspire me with wings,
Put wings on my mind and imagination.
So mote it be!"

"I call the SOUTH, the watchtowers of FIRE,
Burn me, consume my fear, my old self.
Let me rise like a phoenix from purifying flames.
So mote it be!"

"I call the WEST, the watchtowers of WATER,
Wash away my insecurities, open my body and mind,
Cleanse my heart, free me.
So mote it be!"

"I call the NORTH, the watchtowers of EARTH,
Banish my negativity, bury my cowardice,
Bury my hesitation, ground me, feed my roots.
So mote it be!"

Invoke and pray to Lord Ganesha.
"Lord Ganesh! I pray to you,
Oversee my death, my transformation, and rebirth.
So mote it be!
I call upon you to forge me into a write,
To inspire me with poetry.
So mote it be!
Lord Ganesh! I call on you
To allow me to be born of your inspiration.
So mote it be!
Lord Ganesh! Fill me with committment
To my crafts of writing and of witchery.
So mote it be!"

Say the following declaration:
"I do affirm and announce: I am a writer!
I am a writer! I am a writer!
I am a writer of poetry, short stories, great literature,
Fun and free articles, essays, journals, diaries.
I write for you Lord Ganesh,
I write for myself. I write for me. I write for all to see."

Hold up the large candle and declare:
"This candle shall be a writing candle.
When it burns, I shall write.
I shall also write when it burns not."

Thank Ganesha thus:
"Lord Ganesh, protect me. Blessed be."

Creativity Ritual

Cast a triple circle made of salt. The first circle "For the Goddess and God." The second circle "For the Muses." The third circle "For Lord Ganesha."
Light a green candle and say:
"Green is the color of verdant growth.
It nourishes my core.
It brings fertile richness to my life
And makes my spirit soar."

Light a yellow candle.
"Come to me Spirit of the Muse,
Renew my spirit and my soul.
Grant me productivity.
Make me new and whole."

Light some incense.
"Fire and herb and smoke and air,
Fused together well,
Grant your essence unto me
And aid me in this spell.
I am the child of the God and Goddess,
I am the child of the Muses,
I am the child of Lord Ganesha.
Their energies live within me."

Decorate the altar with red eggs and flowers. Burn cinnamon incense. Place a green candle next to an image or statue of Ganesha and light it. Say:
"Teacher of magick and wisdom,
Enlighten me.
Bestower of knowledge,
Open the door to ritual meaning.
Peace and contentment I ask of you."

Sit in quiet meditation.
"Healing, knowledge, mental powers,
All come from your creativity.
Eloquence and self control
I ask now that you give to me.
Guidance I need and inspiration.
Ganesha send with motives true.
I desire to learn, to expand my mind.
For these gifts, Ganesha, I do thank you!"

Perform this ritual on a Wednesday night when the moon is waxing. Light a purple candle and jasmine or rose incense. Say:
"Oh Lord Ganesha,
Bright Lord of the flame,
Blessed God of the poets,
Lend me such insight and wisdom,
And divine inspiration,
That the words may flow to me
And that I may craft them beautifully
So that they spin a tapestry of magick
In the hearts of all who hear them.
So mote it be!"
Leave the candle burning until it goes out. Bury the remains on your property and give thanks to Ganesha for his gift. Now write!

Anoint a yellow candle, light it and some incense. Decorate the altar with tarot cards: Star, Ace of Wands, and The Magician.
"Lord Ganesha hear me in this rhyme,
Help me through this testy time
And move the blocks now in my mind,
So fresh perspectives I can find."

"Bring ideas where none now flow,
Bring new concepts; let them grow.
Free me of this aggravation,
Bring to me some inspiration!"

Lord Ganesha, come now please,
And help me find that which I seek.
Work together with great speed.
As I will it, so mote it be!"
