Spotlight will be going on the car tommorow, (06-08-04) Weather permitting... Then the interior will be going back in..... Keep checking back..... OK, I finnally got the spotlight on the car.... Sorta funny... A 20 year old policecar, and it just got a spotlight installed on it! |
Spotlight is on the car!!! |
Step One.. Drill the two small holes and mount the outside bracket, that will also be used to guide the drill bit for the spot- light shaft. |
Step Two I used the 1/2 inch drill bit to make sure the bracket was in the right place, so the shaft would be level. |
Step Three Put the drill guide bushing into the bracket and tighten the set screw. This bushing keeps the drill bit straight while drilling the "A" pillar for the spotlight shaft. (I took the drill off of the drill bit so you could see the bushing better) This is the hardest part of the whole operation, as the drill bit wants to bind up, since it is going in at an angle. Have to just go slow, to keep the drill bit from binding, until it gets started... |
Step four... Slide the bushing out, and slide the shaft into the bracket, and tighten set screw. All that is left to do is install the inside handle... |

10-30-04 Finnally got the time to start working on the '84 again... After working for a month and a half without a day off.. I also have the OVERTIME pay to finish the car TOO!!! It is going in the shop Monday for the paint job... Ford Oxford White... IF I can get it ready.... I have to strip all the trim, spotlight, door handles, pushbumpers, tailights, headlight trim, and chrome off of it... I'm also going to wet sand the edges.... and maybe if I have the time, The WHOLE car! I decided to paint the car BEFORE I put the new interior in, to keep from getting any over spray on the seats... I had this happen once before.... I have all the interior pieces now, including the new carpets, all ready to install.... So as soon as it gets back from paint, I will finish putting the dash back in... (new speakers for the stereo, that go in the dash, are in also), Followed by re-dying the bottom of the dash... then install the carpets, then some of the equipment that will be mounted in between the seats, then the seats. After that, the rest of the equipment will be installed.... I will be busy for the next couple of months getting it done.... After that, I will be detailing the engine compartment... While all this is going on, I will be getting the true dual exhaust system installed, along with the Mustang shorty headers I found... and the "H" pipe... flowing thru a Buick Gran National double in and double out muffler.... (2 1/2 inch pipes) I have to do this since the electric fuel pump is in the way on the passenger side of the car... See the drawing below of the muffler... |

Here is basicaly what my pipes will look like, except the two pipes will go thru the double muffler... so it won't be as restricting as this setup... The red circle is where the fuel pump is, so that is why I have to use the Buick muffler.... The pipes from the top of the picture to just past the catylitic converters is the "H" pipe from a mustang. |
This is the Mustang "Shorty" headers, and the "H" pipe.... Also you can see the Mustang "double hump" transmission mount..This is so the pipes for the exhaust can stay "tucked up" under the car. |
