Restoration Page 2... New rims... |
With the lightbar on it that I am going to use... |
The front seats... As you can see, the back of the drivers seat has a tear in it. I was able to find a really good set in a junkyard, that only needed clean up. The seats were Electric, so we had to use a battery box, and put some fuses back in, to be able to move the seats. I am changing the seat tracks to non electric, like the originals, and removing the center trays, to make room for the sirens and radios I will be installing, between the seats. |

04-15-04 TAX DAY!!! (Already got mine back!) OK, an update... I have gathered most of the parts i need to restore the interior, and the trunk on the car. I got the seats out of the car at the junkyard.. Along with all of the interior parts I needed, for about $40.00!!! The seats look good after a good steam cleaning.... We ended up using a battery box to move the seat to get at the bolts. So now I am swapping the seat tracks from the electric to the manual. This weekend, I plan on swapping the interior, Mounting the radios and siren, the cage, the spotlight, the steel rims and dog dish hubcaps, and the pushbumpers... From there, I will restore and detail the trunk. I was able to get new carpeting and all the other things needed for the trunk from the same car... Including an original jack, the hold down bolt, and the carpeted side panels... After that.. on to the engine compartment..... |
New rims installed!!! |
Old rims will be on the for sale page |
The seats and interior come out!!! The old interior was alot worse that I thought.. the insulation between the back seat and the trunk had been eaten by some sort of little animal... So it was like loose cotton all over under and behind the back seat... Alot of vacuming!!! |
Front seat area... The only thing wrong with the carpets, besides being really dirty.. Is the 6 inch rip you can see by the right side kick panel..... Not sure If I will clean them up, And have the rip fixed at a carpet place... Or replace them.... |
A PILE of seats! The old seats, and other parts of the interior.... out waiting for the trash man!!! |
04-18-04 Started pulling the old interior out... and painting all the plastic trim pieces.... |
The old with the new... Painted the one on the left... you can see how faded the trim pieces from the rear window area were.... The color is a little lighter blue than original.. but it is the closest match I have found.... |
Removing the trays between the seats... |
Before Vacuming.... |
After Vacuming... |
The slot cut in the carpet, on the side of the transmission hump is where the FHP ran the wiring from under the carpet. If I keep the present carpets, I will run the wiring the same way they did.... |
Next, steam cleaning the carpets!! |
Some of the side trim.. you can see what Florida sun does to plastic parts... I will put up a picture, of the "after", When I get done repainting them! (By the way, it is supposed to be the color of the "Blue" at the bottom of the trim piece!) |
Passenger seat after steam cleaning today.... Still a little wet..... |
Drivers seat after cleaning... I have to reinstall the seat tracks on it next... Followed by reinstalling the armrests... |
