March 7th (Sunday)

Deer Park, Bald Hill

If there is sun to be found it will be here, on this sheltered side of Mt. Tam.  The scenic trails will take us through a mix of oaks and grassy knolls, with some spectacular views thrown in along the way.  We’ll stop for lunch at a suitably scenic spot.  Moderate/Strenuous difficulty.  Meet at the Deer Park Picnic Grounds in Fairfax (end of Porteous Ave.) at 10:30am.  No pre-trip, or reservation required - just show up.  Bring water, lunch/snacks, or treats to share, teacup, and sun/rain protection as appropriate.  Heavy rain cancels.  Pacific Trail Society.  For more info, call Toni Grimes at 415-453-6368
 

March 21st (Sunday)

Redwood Park

Redwood Park, with its big trees and great vistas is the gem of the Oakland hills.  A 5-6 mile hike of moderate/strenuous difficulty.  We’ll stop for lunch at a suitably scenic spot. Directions: W on Hwy 24; Exit Claremont; L on Claremont (to top); R on Grizzly Peak; L on Skyline; Skyline to Redwood Park.  Meet at 10:30am.  No pre-trip, or reservation required - just show up.  Bring water, lunch/snacks, or treats to share, teacup, and sun/rain protection as appropriate.  Heavy rain cancels.  Pacific Trail Society.  For more info, call Cora Hoover at 415-386-9675
 

May 2nd (Sunday)

Tule Elk Reserve

Spectacular ridge trail hike in the heart of elk country.  This 5 mile hike offers 3600 views and a chance to see the wild elk herds.  Park at the historic Pierce Point Ranch at the end of Pierce Point Rd. in Point Reyes National Seashore.  Dress in layers for variable weather.  Bring lots of water/food/snacks.  Start time 10:30am.   For more info call Toni Grimes at (415) 453-6368.
 
 

May 16th (Sunday)

Purisima Creek Redwoods

A strenuous hike in this forested Open Space Preserve on western slope of the coastal range overlooking Half Moon Bay. Ten miles and 1000 ft. climb. Bring lots of water, lunch (and/or treats to share).  Meet at 10:30 am at the parking lot next to the Kings Mountain Country Store on Skyline Boulevard (Route 35), 4.5 miles south of Route 92.  For more info call Peter Wijeratne at (650) 572-9551.

June 5th (Saturday)

Sweeney Ridge Hike

A moderate/strenuous hike from Skyline college up and along Sweeney Ridge.  Great views of both the Bay and the Pacific.  Abandoned Nike Missile site for the adventurous.  May be very hot or very foggy.  Bring lots of water and lunch.  Meet 11:00 am at SE corner of parking lot #2, Skyline College. (take College Drive west from  highway 35, just north of Sneath lane and South of highway 1 interchange.  Stay left at big fork, then turn left into parking lot #2 and park where signs indicate parking for GGNRA trail).  For more info call Mark at 415-550-4060.
 

June 26TH (Saturday)

Madrone Canyon Hike

Cool Canyons and Ridge-top views.  We’ll hike a loop over the new King Mtn. trail, down through Madrone Canyon and return via Corte Madera Ridge.  Moderate /Strenuous hike.  Meet at 10:30am in front of the Lark theatre, Downtown Larkspur. For more info call Chris at (415) 927-0751.
