December 3 Sunday - Sibley Volcanic Preserve Hike

Berkeley hills hike to the labyrinths in Sibley. From Bay Bridge take 580 to 24, then 13 south. Take Park exit, turn left and then left on Mountain. Right on Snake (1st light) which becomes Shepherd Canyon. Right at Skyline, and 1/3 mile to the parking lot on the left. Meet 10:30am, hike starts 10:45. Meet at 10:45 in front of the Pelican Inn. This moderate hike starts at 11am. After the hike, we'll retire to the cozy lounge (fireplace included) at the Pelican Inn to toast the holidays with warm egg nog, hot toddies, or whatever lights YOUR fire. Directions: 20 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge. From Highway 101- Take Stinson Beach- Hwy 1 exit. The Pelican Inn is located on Hwy 1 at the Muir Beach turn-off. You can park in the parking lot for Muir Beach. Hike: Roughly over 5 miles, we will start from the Pelican Inn up Dias Ridge trail, over to Miwok trail, and down the Coastal trail ending the hike at Muir Beach. Bring a lunch and water! Dress in layers for variable weather. Note that this hike does not appear in the Outdoors Unlimited bulletin! Meet at Pantoll Ranger Station 11:00am, hike begins 11:15. Take the Stinson Beach/Hwy 1 exit from 101 in Mill Valley. After 1 mile, turn left at stoplight (staying on Hwy 1). After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Panoramic Hwy and go 5.5 miles to the Pantoll parking lot. $5 parking fee (call about carpooling!). Lunch at the beach! After 1 mile, turn left at stoplight (staying on Hwy 1). After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Panoramic Hwy. February 4, Sunday - Muir Woods: Dipsea Trail to Steep Ravine

Meet at the Dipsea trailhead in the Muir Woods parking lot at 10:00am, hike begins 10:15. Take the Stinson Beach/Hwy 1 exit from 101 in Mill Valley. After 1 mile, turn left at stoplight (staying on Hwy 1). After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Panoramic Hwy, go 1 mile and turn left at the Muir Woods junction, then 1 mile to the parking lot. Moderately strenuous 8 mile hike. There is a lot of uphill for this hike! Approximate time to return is 3pm. It will take about 25 minutes to get to the meeting spot from the GG Bridge. Cross Skyline Blvd and go 2 miles to the MacDonald Staging Area parking lot on the right. Meet 10:30am, hike begins 10:45. It will take about 20 minutes to get to the meeting spot once you cross the Bay Bridge. Moderate 7 mile hike. Some flat fire roads and trails mixed with steep uphills.
