I love waking up

to what the day will bring.

To new sights
to new sounds
to hear the birds sing.

I love waking up

the day shares.

to works toil
and to all it bares.

As much as I love
all of this
each and every season.

I hate waking up
for just this
one important reason.

I hate waking up
for a simple thing
one that makes me quake.

I am afraid
that one lonely day
I will awake.

To find that
OUR life together
has been a dream.

For OUR life together
has been just that
a magnificent dream.

I am afraid that
I will awake
and end the dream.

And life will continue
pointless, endless
a dead calm sea.

For that is what
life without YOU
truly would be.
