I have lived in Alexandra for the last fifteen years. A few of my relatives live there as well. Two of my aunties have already commented on this page, both have lived in Alexandra. The pictures a really good. Alex has many qualities. The summers are really hot and you will always find something to do there. Maybe I will hear from old friends from school days .Spooky!! |

I was there for about 4 yrs then moved to Auckland in '74. My parents and Don & Pam Musson. There were 7 of us and 3 still live in Alex - Tricia Haig, Jim Musson & Donella Walker. Our sister, Adrienne, lives in Vancouver & I'll let her know about this page because she'll love it too. The photos are fabulous - very sharp and great views - thanks. Was a time when we would walk down the street and say hello to everyone we passed. It's grown a lot since I was there and there's not many I know now. It's still a beautiful part of the country and we'll be going back down after Xmas this year so looking orward to that. When we were there a couple of years ago, we did the trip up the Old Man Range and that was excellent. A lot of the plants are like plastic. A most interesting trip. Isn't the net wonderful? We'll spend some time and look at the other links soon. Will you be putting more photos on at some stage? Maybe you could get a sort of local interest/people newsletter going ... There's a group up here of ex Sth Islanders, calling themselves The Mainland Connection. I'll let them know your site address as well. Cheers Robin |

My Dad was from Waipahi and went to Gore High School; I have fond childhood memories of visiting the South end of the South Island. I was born in Wellington, and lived there, Auckland and Lower Hutt. I went to Naenae College from 1957 to 1961. I have lived the last 30 years in Canada, the first 29 in Edmonton (+35C to -45C) and now in Victoria on Vancouver Island (+28C to -5C). The terrain, vegetation and climate here are much more like NZ. We even have blackberries, a treat after not seeing them for 29 years! Your pictures do make me feel homesick, so I think it's time I planned anpther trip home.
