A wonderful fantasy about hope and courage, mystical animals long since forgotten and lost, The Last Unicorn is an exceptional film which should be enjoyed by all children and adults as well; It is very beautiful and sad, yet uplifting.
The Last Unicorn was one of the first movies that I ever truly loved to watch. I got it as a gift and I still watch it every now and again. It's a timeless movie that should be enjoyed by every generation.
Plot:
The Last Unicron has a simple plot: find the unicorns. But, the finding of them is done in great fashion.
Animation:
The animation is perfect. It is fluid and not choppy, and nor is it Japanamation that doesn't lip-sync right. The Red Bull is amazingly well detailed, as well as the talking skull, and the unicorn herself is just so beautiful.
Sound:
The voice talent in The Last Unicorn is outstanding. All the cast members work in great harmony together, and seem to be made for the roles. This is true in that most of the original cast members will be reprising their roles (or others) in the 2006 live action version of The Last Unicorn. This includes Christopher Lee, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury and Rene Auberjonois.
The songs are sung beautifully. They are elegant and sweet,a nd emotional. It's no surprise because the soundtrack was one of the best sellng albums of 1983... in Germany.
Character Development:
Schmendrick gains the power to be a true magician, and the unicorn finds the others like her. King Haggard dies, and the Red Bull is done in, force to live in the water like the unicorns were made to before.
Atmosphere:
A wonderful and sad, yet fun animated movie enjoyable by the whole family.
Realism:
It is a fantasy, but there are magicians and Kings, and at one time there were unicorns running about. However, the action is well done and the fantasy aspect is reall well developed.
Warren’s Rating:
