Best quote: "Good Morning! ...Oh, and if I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night!" - Truman Burbank

Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) has lived his entire life in Seahaven, a small sea-side town on an island. He has a wife (Laura Linney) and works for an insurance company. There's just one weird thing about his life, though: the island is part of a gigantic soundstage. Truman is the main star of The Truman Show, a T.V. program that has been running since his birth, and he has NO IDEA that he is seen all over the world on TV, 24-7.

However, one day things start to become different for Truman. A stage light falls out of the sky; his supposedly "dead" father returns and still can't book that flight to Fiji he want's so badly.

Truman has discovered that something's up, and he want's to find out what it is. Truman tries to leave Seahaven, but he is twarted at every turn. The producer of the show, Christof (Ed Harris), will stop at nothing to keep Truman from finding out the truth...

Personal Comments

There was never a better choice to play Truman other than Jim Carrey. His comic style works well with the subtle comedy of Truman Burbank. And truely, this is a breakthrough role Jim Carrey. Carrey is simply amazing in the role and freakin' robbed of an Oscar Nomination. Never mind that he won the Golden Golbe for the role. He wasn't even nominated.

Plot:
The basic idea of the movie is a simple one: man lives a normal life unawear that it is broadcast international TV 24-7.

Yah it's a simple story but it works well with Jim Carrey in the lead role.

Visual Effects:

Sound:
The score isn't overly memorable, however it was enjoyable.

Character Development:
You really see a change in Truman as well as the supporting cast. You can actually see Truman "grow up" through out the film. Not just pysically, mind you, but mentally, as well.

Atmosphere:
Surprisingly, this is a lite-hearted film and it is very easy to get into. Infact, comming away from it, you'll actually be feeling good for Truman Burbank.

Realism:
