Best quote: "Hey Waldorf, look. It's the frog and the pig!" "Looks like they're in love." "Yeah. Kinda makes you sick, doesn't it?" - Statler & Waldorf

Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, Dr. Teeth and the rest of the Muppet gang have just graduated from college. Together, they perform a song-and-dance show which is really good. It's called "Manhattan Melodies," and now they want to take the show to New York City... to Broadway.

Once they arrive in New York they find out that it is harder to sell their show than they had originally thought. With no luck, the group is forced to go their seperate ways. Everyone leaves town for better jobs elsewhere out-of-state.

But Kermit doesn't give up. He stay in New york City because he has faith in his show, and he will stop at nothing to get his show on stage and his friends back in town.

Personal Comments

The Muppets Take Manhattan is fun little musical for one big reason: it's All singing! All dancing! All Muppets! performed by the incomprable Jim Henson and Frank Oz! I mean, who doesn't love Kermit the Frog? And Miss Piggy? One of the biggest divas of all time!

You can't help but also love the plethera of different characters like Statler and Waldorf, The Swedish Chef or Animal, and the wide variety of cameos, complemented by a great song score and wonderful songs makes The Muppets Take Manhattan not only a classic film but one of the best musicals out there. Sure it's no West Side Story, but you know what I mean.

The Muppets are all about fun, and that's just what this film is. The Muppets are extremely funny, and great characters to watch. The movie is a classic not only because of it's wonderful characters, but also of the wonderful work of the legendary, incomprable Jim Henson.

Plot:
The Muppets Take Manhattan could have easily been 2 hours or more, but it was nicely editied down to a compfortable length. The Story tells of the Muppet's struggles to get on Broadway, and the script was nicely written by Frank Oz and others.

Visual Effects:
The puppeteering was simply amazing. With the puppeteering comes many different tricks to make the puppets look like real things and not just puppets. There are many instaces throughout the film where the puppets are shown with their whole bodies visible, which is a nice touch. (It makes the characters more believable.)

Sound:
The songs of the film were well done and the film was amply deserving of the Oscar nomination is received, making The Muppets Take Manhattan one of the best musicals ever made.

Character Development:

Atmosphere:
This film is definatly not for everyone; it is a bit cartoony in a way but come on! Who doesn't love the Muppets?

Realism:
All of the "Muppet" movies blend real life and puppets to make fun, entertaining films. The Muppets Take Manhattan is no different. In the world of the particular film, the Mupepts are real. Jim Henson and Frank Oz certainly brought them to life without a doubt.
