Harry Sandborn (Jack Nicholson) is an ageing music industry executive who happens to have a fondness for younger women. One of those women is Marin (Amanda Peet). Things get awkward when Harry suffers a heart attack at the home of Marin's mother Erica (Diane Keaton), an acomplished playwrite.
With no alternative, Erica is forced to care for Harry for an extended period of time, untill Harry can see his doctor, Julian Mercer (Keanu Reeves). During Harry's recuperation at Erica's house, he falls in love with her. Also in this time, Harry gives his doctor some good advice. Julian is in love, and Harry tells the doctor to ask out his big crush, his favourite playwrite. This just-so-happens to be Erica.
Something's Gotta Give is a fun romatic comedy. The cast all work well together, especially the leads Nicholson and Keaton, and Keanu Reeves, as well, in a nice change of pace from all of those Matrix movies.
Keaton was nominated for the Oscar in a leading role. As good as she was, it was Nicholson who was the other half to the great chemistry,a nd should ahve been nominated himself (which would have tied him with Maryl Streep at 14).
Plot:
The love-triangle aspect is fun, and there is a slight surprise in the ending, but other than that it is your general romatic comedy.
Visual Effects:
Cinematography is average throughout this picture. There are no special effects shots, either.
Sound:
There is a decent score to the films and all the songs work well with the scene they are in.

Most romatic coedies are for women, and this is no exception. Some men may like it as it does have Keanu Reeves and Jack Nicholson in it.
