Best Quote: "What kind of a host invites you to his house for the weekend and dies on you?" - Larry Wilson

Larry Wilson (Andrew McCarthy) and Richard Parker (Johnathan Silverman) work for am insurance company. One day, while working on the weekend, they find some odd numbers in several insurance payouts. These numbers mena that someone is stealing millons from the company. THese numbers are Larry and Rich's chanceto makes gains within the company. They soon tell the boss - Bernie (Terry Kiser) - who, unbeknownst to them, is the one scamming the money from the company.

Bernie tells the two that they can join him at his beachfront house the very next weekend, because they belive he is thanking them for find out about the money.

Once Larry and Rich arrive at Bernies beach home, they realise that they are going to have the best weekend of the young lives. But there is only one catch. Bernie wants the pair dead for finding out his scam.

Things do not go according to plan. Bernie is killed first, and so Larry and Rich, to scare to call the police, use Bernie's rotting corpse all weekend to make like he is still alive and well.

Personal Comments

I loved the concept for Weekend at Bernies. However, the film misses the mark... what could have been a very funny film was only a funny film.

I didn't like the way the plot was set up; I didn't belive that Bernie was belivable as the bad guy at first. However, I must give props to Terry Kiser, who was amazing as the dead guy. I actually thought they used a life-like dummy when in fact it was a real person!

Don't get me wrong, this is a funny movie. Just don't waste your money on Weekend at Bernies 2.

Plot:
Plot is always half a movie; however, this is a simple plot, and could have achieved greatness, but instead it is just mediocre.

Visual Effects:
Visual effects are akin to formating an Excel spred sheet or a web page (bolding words, spell checking, tables, etc.). Weekend at Bernies is a movie - basically - about a dead guy. To get it so that the "dead" guy looked dead, they had to use a real live person. To get this live person to look dead must have been a challenge; needless to say, they did an amazing job because as stated earlier, it was thought to be just a dummy!

Sound:
There are only a couple of songs, but they do, however, work well in the picture.

Character Development:
There is little development in the two characters of Rich and Larry; there basic role is not to develope or grow but to figure out what to do with Bernie's dead body.

Atmosphere:
It starts out interestingly enough, and picks up speed. It is a funny film.

Realism:
You can't do what they are doing with a dead body. The body would start to stink after only a few hours, and if anyone touched it they would feel how cold it is.

However, this is a movie, and it's not meant to be real. It just feels phoney in many places.
