The Reading Railway ran primarily commuter train service from Philadelphia and Reading, Pottsville, Harrisburg, Shamokin, Williamsport, Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Rochester, Buffalo, Toronto, Atlantic City, and New York City.
One of the best trains on the system was the "Crusader" which was a streamlined train with two round-trips per day on the New York to Philadelphia route. The Reading ran numerous run-thru trains with several other railroads. All trains ran with coaches and some with parlor cars or sleepers.
