Northeast Airlines operated in Maine with DC-3 and twin-engined Lockheed airliners. Service ran primarily from Boston to points within Maine and to Montreal and Moncton, N.B. Service had been temporarily suspended at times during the day to Augusta and Caribou because the airport was still under construction.
Maine Central Transportation ran bus service from Bangor, Waterville, Lewistown, Portland, and Boston. Portland to Yarmouth. Portland to Bridgton, and Jackson. Portland, Rockland, Belfast.

The "Bar Harbor Express" ran from points in the Northeast to Ellsworth. Sleepers ran from Philadelphis to Ellsworth(buffet), Washington to Ellsworth, Philadelphia to Portland, Philadelphia to Ellsworth, Philadelphia to Farmington. Dining car service ran from Philadelphia to New Haven, Portland to Ellsworth.
The "Bar Harbor Express-Down Easter" ran Fridays only, June 20 to August 29, inc., and July 2 and 3. Sleepers ran from New York to Rockland, New York to Waterville, Philadelphia to Waterville, Philadelphia to Rockland. Coach from New York to Rockland(Fri only and July 3), Portland to Waterville, lounge car from New York to Rockland
The "State of Maine Express" ran from New York to Portland with sleepers from New York to Portland, New York to Farmington. Coaches from New York to Portland.
The "Casco" ran from New York to Portland with sleepers from New York to Portland, lounge car from New York to Portland. NO COACHES.
Train #1, ran from Portland to Bangor. Coaches only.
Train #3, ran from Lewiston to Farmington. Coaches only.
Train #5, ran from Portland to Wateville. Coaches only.
Train #6, ran from Farmington to Lewiston. Coaches only.
"The Gull" ran from Boston to St. Johns with sleepers from Boston to Bangor, Boston to Halifax, Boston to Calais, Boston to Van Buren, Boston to St. John. A parlor car ran from Boston to Portland(restaurant-lounge), dining car from Vanceboro to St. John, buffet-lounge car from North Maine Junction to Van Buren, coach from Boston to St. John.
The "Kennebec Limited" ran from Boston to Ellsworth with a parlor car from Boston to Ellsworth, buffet-lounge car from Bangor to Van Buren, coaches from Boston to Bangor.
The "Pine Tree Limited" ran from Boston to Portland-Bangor with parlor service from Boston to Bangor, dining car from Boston to Portland, buffet-lounge car from Washington, DC to Bangor(June20-Sept 26, inclusive)Deluxe coach from Washington, DC to Bangor(June20-Sept 26 inclusive), coaches from Boston to Bangor.
"The East Wind" ran from Washington, DC to Bangor with through equipment as a "New DeLuxe all coach train". The train ran from June 20 to September 26 inclusive. All Seats Reserved. DeLuxe coaches ran from Washington, DC to Bangor, DeLuxe coach from New York to Portland, DeLuxe coach from New York to Bangor, Buffet-Lounge car from Wshington, DC to Bangor, Dining car service from Washington to Portland.
"The Mountaineer" ran from Boston to Littleton & Bethlehem as a streamlined air-conditioned train with parlor car service, buffet train with reservations only.
