This is the Burlington Lines January-April, 1940 passenger timetable.

The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad was a major railroad with many passenger trains some of which were the original streamlined (stainless steel) passenger trains.

The "Exposition Flyer" ran from Chicago-St. Louis to California via Denver and Salt Lake City. Equipement run were an observation-lounge car from Chicago to San Francisco and St. Louis to St. Joseph, sleepers ran from Chicago to San Francisco and St. Louis to San Francisco with tourist car from Chicago to San Francisco, a dining car serving all meals, with a chair car from Chicago to San Francisco, and St. Louis to Denver.

On the Northern Pacific connection the Burlington ran the "North Coast Limited" from Chicago to Portland and Seattle with an observation-club car from Chicago to Seattle and Portland, with sleepers from Chicago to Seattle-Tacoma and Chicago to Portland with a tourist sleeper from Chicago to Seattle and Spokane to Portland, a dining car serving all meals and deluxe coaches from St. Paul to Portland.

Also, train #3 ran from Chicago to Seattle with a parlor car run from Chicago to St. Paul with sleepers from St. Paul to Cargo, Billing to Butte, and Spokane to Portland, a tourist car from St. Paul to Spokane and Spokane to Portland, a dining car from Chicago to St. Paul and a cafe car from St. paul to Seattle with chair cars from Chicago to St. Paul, St. Paul to Seattle and Spokane to Portland.

The Great Northern connection run was the "Empire Builder" from Chicago to Seattle to Portland and Tacoma with a lounge-observation car from Chicago to Seattle, Tacoma and Portland, sleepers ran from Chicago to Seattle and Tacoma,Chicago to Portland and St. Paul to Great Falls, tourist sleepers cars from Chicago to Seattle and Spokane to Portlad, a dining car serving all meals, and deluxe coaches from Chicago to Seattle and Spokane to Portland.

The "Adventureland" ran from St. Louis and Chicago to Seattle with an observation car from St. Louis to Kansas City and Chicago to Shelby and Shelby to Seattle, a parlor car from St. Louis to Kansas City, and sleepers from Chicago to Billings, Kansas City to Billing, Omaha to Shelby, Denver to Edgemont, Shelby to Seattle, tourist sleepers from Chiago to Loncoln, and Shelby to Seattle-Portland, dining car serving all meals, chair cars ran from Chicago to Linclon, St. Louis to Kansas City, Kansas City to Billongs, Shelby and Seattle-Portland, chair cars from St. Louis to Kansas City, Kansas City to Billings, Shelby to SEattle-Portland and coaches from Denver to Edgemont-Billings.

"The "Denver Zephyr" ws one of the finest streamlined trains of the day. It ran on a fast schedule from Chicago to Denver with an observation car, standard sleepers, dining car, cocktail lounge car, and deluxe coaches run on the entire trip. This is one of the famous trains in US railroad history.

"The Overland Express" ran from Chicago to Denver with sleepers from Chicago to Denver and Chicago to Quincy with a diner serving all meals and chair cars from Chicago to Denver.

The "Aristocrat" from Denver to Chicago with an obervation-lounge car from Denver to Chicago, sleepers from San Francisco to Denver to Chicago and Denver to Omaha and Ottumwa, with tourist sleepers from San Francisco to Denver to Chicago, a diner serving all meals and chair cars from Denver to Chicago.

The "Ak-Sar-Ben" from Chicago to Lincoln with an observation-lounge car from Chicago to Loncoln, sleepers from Chicago to Omaha, and Chicago to Lincoln, a dining car serving all meals and chair cars from Chicago to Lincoln.

The "Fast Mail" with a loung car from Chicago to -Omaha-Lincoln, sleepers from Chicago to Omaha-Lincoln, a dining car serving all meals, and chair cars from Chicago to Lincoln.

Train #11, from Chicago to Burlington with parlor car, coach from Chicago to Ottumwa, and dining car from Chicago to Burlington.

#9 with a coach from Omaha to Denver.

"The New Twin Zephyrs" from Chicago to Minneapolis with an observation car from Chicago to Minneapolis, parlor car from Chicago to Minneapolis, dining car from Chicago to Minneapolis, cocktail lounge from Chiago to Minneapolis, and deluxe coaches from Chicago to Minneapolis. Also, a hostess and radio reception.

"The Black Hawk" from Chicago to Minneapolis with an observation car, salon-lounge car, sleepers, deluxe coaches, and buffet service in the lounge car.

The "American Royal" from Chicago to Kansas City with an observation lounge from Chiago to St. Joseph, Brookfield to Kansas City, sleepers from Chicago to Kansas City and Chicago to St. Joseph.

The "General Pershing Zephyr" from St. Louis to Kansas City with parlor-lounge, coaches, and a dining car.

"Mark Twain Zephyr" also from St. Louis to Kansas City with palor lounge, coach and dining car.

The "Night Hawk" with sleepers and chair cars from St. Louis to Kansas City

The "Pioneer Zephyr" from Kansas City to Omaha with solariumparlor-lounge, coaches, and dining car service.

"The General Custer" from St. Louis to Wyoming and Montana with a lounge from Lincoln to Sheridan, sleepers from St. Louis to Kansas City, Omaha to Edgemont, Lincoln to Casper, dining car from Lincoln to Sheridan, chair cars from St. Louis to Kansas City, and Kansas City to Billings, coaches from Alliance to Casper.

The "Sam Houston Zephyr" with an observation -parlor lounge, and chair cars from Houston to Dallas.

"The Buffalo Bill" tri-weekly from Denvr to Cody, WY. for Yellowstone Park service from June 28th to Sept. 2.

The "Texas Rocket" from Houston to Dallas-Ft. Worth with an observation-lounge car, and chair cars and dining service from Houston to Dallas-Ft. Worth.

Other locals ran throughout the system.
