Who We Are

About Us

Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church is a parish of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). The Orthodox Church began at Pentecost; her history can be traced in unbroken continuity back to Christ and His apostles. In 1988, this living body of Jesus Christ became a reality in Livonia, Michigan, with the founding of this parish.

At Holy Transfiguration, we emphasize spiritual growth, community outreach, and fellowship.  For spiritual growth, we offer worship services throughout the week, sacraments for the Orthodox believer, seminars on aspects of Christian living, classes for those inquiring into the Orthodox faith, and church school for both children and adults. Our library also offers excellent reading and reference material; feel free to drop by any time the church is open.

Community Outreach

Community outreach is a calling for all Christians. Holy Transfiguration offers opportunities to serve in a variety of ways. Here are a few:

  • by providing help to local food bank programs and to the homeless or needy;
  • by supporting local missions and monasteries;
  • by joining our choir as it ministers not only within our four walls but at other churches and locations locally;
  • by sharing our lives and our faith with those to whom God directs us.

Fellowship and Special Events

Fellowship involves various occasions throughout the year when we gather together to eat, talk, serve, and play.  Join us at the coffee hour after Sunday liturgy and at any of our potlucks or weekend trips!

Special events include (call for details):

  • Lenten weekly potlucks and seminars
  • Inquirers' classes
  • Christmas Cookie Walk
  • Ski Trip
  • Annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community
