Photo #13:  The arrow in this photo is pointing to the same general feature as is the arrow in the next photo (photo 14)
Photo #14: A first view of the Anza Borrega Desert... This is one of my favorite photos from the event becuase it captures the diversity of the landscape along the course.
Photo #15:  Mt Laguna Observaotry, the white globe-type object on top of hill in background, is owned by UCSD.  Also visible in this picture is a pink ribbon hanging from the bush. This year Paul used pink ribbon, in addition to gypsum, because rain was falling while the course was being marked in the days before the event. Another feature of interest in this photo is the prickly pear cactus in lower lefthand corner!
Photo #16: Another view of the  seemingly ever present Anza Borrega Desert.
Photo #17: A tree changing color (somewhere after Todd's Cabin Aid St)
Photo #18: This section was slightly downhill and very runnable...Only about 0.1mi ahead the trail made a u-turn to the left providing the view shown in Photo #20.  The course marking after the U-turn was confusing. As I approached  the U-turn I came upon another runner (Jose?)  looking at the ribbon. In the end, we decided to follow ths footprints ahead (which turned out to be accurate).
Photo #20: The view from the U-turn inthe trail:  Green Manzanita in the foreground contrasting the barren desert in background.
