Click here for mini race report. Normally I carry a camera during trail races, but decided against it for PD. Bill (one of my friends in the Houston group) took some photos.....we had fun with the photos and captions:

Photo #1 Race Director "Big Red" Spicer standing in front on the start/finish line for Palo Duro 50.

Photo #2: A view of the start/finish area from other direction, looking toward Sorenson Point.

Photo #3 : Runners were treated to a rainbow a few hours into the race !  (this photo was taken by Nagindra).

Photo #4:  Gigi and an unknown runner demonstrate bravery , confidence , and swift running  while being pursued by the dreaded Giant Spider of Palo Duro Canyon.  Any clumsy footing or falling could spell disaster..

Photo #5:  Hearing the reports of a giant spider, Linda begins  the final 12.5 mi loop feeling  fatigued  and wondering if she  too will be able to out run the spider or if she will become another one of its victims.  Taking no chances, she  grabbed the 'serious cap' from her drop bag .   Prior to running the PD course, Linda mistakenly  believed that the Bandera course had the largest spiders in Texas.

Photo #6:  Red congratulates Gigi on her 50Km finish, and  Gigi is happy to have out-maneuvered the spider.  Red is not afraid of the big bad spider.

Photo #9:  Ted Bidwell of Colorado (previously of Houston, and previously  HARRA & BCRR member) with his 3rd Place 50 Miler Award Jacket  and Linda with her 3rd place 50Km  Award Jacket.

Photo #11: Linda  is happy that  Nagindra survived the Giant Spider and ran a 50K PR, but Nagindra fears he may suffer nightmares from the experience.
