Photo  26:  At this point we have less than 5 miles to the finish. We have exitted the Tongue River Canyon and are travelling along a dirt road. This photo is taken looking back and a little south along the range.

Photo 27: The dirt road that eventually leads to Dayton. The 2 bonus miles lie ahead!

Kevin and I reached the outer edge  of Dayton around 8pm.   We emptied our water bottles and consumed final packets of HammerGel in preparation for the final sprint.  And we had a great final sprint into the finish line at Centennial Park. We tied and our official finish time was 14hr 7 mins.!  (50 mile results) .  I was very satisfied with my effort.  What a fun race it was, even if it was a long arduous one.

Photo 29: A photo of  Linda and  April .... Everyone who did the 50km and 30km stayed at Centennial Park and waited for Wes and me to finish the 50 mile race!  That was very nice of everyone. All of the support and help was appreciated. Just like the 50 milers, the folks doing the 50km event also had two bonus miles (their race was 33 miles  long instead of 31 miles).

Photo  28:  After finishing , it felt great to remove the shoes and sit down.  My yellow drop bags had beat me to the finish line!   I learned a great deal during this race.

Photo  30:  The person in this photo, approaching the finish line, had sat beside me on the bus ride up to the race start.  (John Sinclair?) . He is from an area of Wyoming south of BigHorn Natl Forest. He had previously lived near the Houston area before moving to Wyoming.

Photo 32:   A group photo of everyone at the finish line! Everyone finished their repsected races within the cut-offs and   two people (Ivy & Geoffrey) won  age-group awards in the 50k event !  Kudos to the Race Directors and the volunteers for a very well organized and supported race.

Photo 33:  The Awards Ceremony for the 50mile and 100mile races was held the next morning at the Running Stoer in Sheridan in conjunction with the pancake breakfast. Below is a photo of me with my finishers jacket !   I also won a doorprize (my second ever)..a pair of trailrunning socks.

On Sunday afternoon, four of us drove back into the BigHorn National Forest to visit some waterfalls and lakes in a section located south of where the races were held..we took some photos.
