| Born:1727 Born to darkness:1753 Angel is the most important Vampire in BTVS. He was born Liam, in 1727 in Galway Ireland. Over time he became a spoiled rascal and a drunk. After his father disowned him, he met Darla and she turned him into a Vampire in 1753. He became the "scourge of Europe" and he raised Hell with Darla, Spike, (then known as William the Bloody,") Drusilla and Darla. In 1898 he was cursed with his human soul by gypsies after he fed on their favorite daughter and he became a dark, brooding, remorseful man. He then travelled the world and he became homeless until he was found by Whistler in 1996. After he met Whistler in '96 he met Buffy and he fell in love with her instantly. He then decided to help her and he started to dress a little better (thank goodness, those bum clothes looked bad on him,) and he became her informant until she discovered he was a Vampire. After that they flirted until they became lovers in the second season. One night, after nearly being burned by the Judge, Buffy and Angel make love and he changes after that. He becomes mean and cruel and he breaks Buffy's heart. Buffy finds out that he has changed because he has lost his soul. The father of the gypsie he killed made sure that he would lose his soul again if he had a moment of pure joy. He started a campaign of cruel mind games with Buffy after he became Angelus again and he killed Jenny Calendar. He then awakened Acathala and opened a gateway to hell, just before his soul was given back to him by Willow. The only way Buffy could close the portal was if she drew Angel's blood, so she was forced to stab him through the heart and send him to hell. After 100 years in Hell, Angel escaped and was brought back to Sunnydale three months after he was "killed" by Buffy. In season three, Buffy and Angel were on again-off again lovers. They tried to just be "friends," but they both started to realize that that was impossible, and they became a couple again. Eventually Angel realized that a relationship with Buffy was impossible since she was mortal and he was immortal. He realized that she would never have a normal life with him, so he left her. He went to Los Angeles and he started a new battle against evil there. During the first season of Angel, Angel opened Angel Investigations with Cordelia and Doyle and he dedicated himself to helping the helpless. In the second season he stopped helping the helpless so he could selfishly battle Wolfram & Hart and Darla. After he realized his selfishness, he re-dedicated himself to fighting evil and he is now on the right track again. First Appearance: "Welcome to the Hellmouth" Key relationships: "Sired by Darla.
