Edge of the Trees
The path swerves and turns steeply, jacknifing through the trees. You fear that if you were riding something on this path you might miss a turn and hit a trunk of one of the mighty oaks you see around you. Luckily this is just a walking tour of the realm.
You think as you walk, what creatures live in this area? First your mind thinks of the hunter cats you met earlier. Do more than just them live around here? Are there more hunter cats as well? You keep a sharp eye out for anything of that sort, and suddenly you catch a flick of a tail as something runs into the bushes in front of you.
This was not an ordinary tail though, it was purple! You walk to where it last stood but don't see it anywhere, when you turn to walk on again there is another hunter cat watching from behind!
He tilts his head curiously and rushes back into the bushes. You sigh, thinking you've scared him off, and walk on the path.
Soon, strangely enough, the path emerges from the trees but follows the line of trunks along the meadow you're edging. It feels like being in two different worlds, since one way you see the dark forest, and the other way you see an open meadow. But mainly you focus straight ahead so you can see both areas just fine.
Suddenly you see the same hunter cat you saw earlier, plus two others walk out onto the path in front of you. These cats you have never seen before, and they all look different.
The first one walks up to you, he is a dark purple and black with a very shy and thin build. He slinks up and sniffs you quietly then brushes against your leg quickly.
You don't dare touch him though, afraid you might offend or scare him away. You just look at his shiny fur as he sits and watches you at the same time. Just then the other cat, a large female with beautiful wings and silky fur, flies up quickly using her rainbow colored butterfly wings.
Her silver fur and shiny eyes catch and hold your gaze. She seems to float and glide on an unseen breeze with every movement, but her eyes stay locked on yours intelligently.
Finally the third cat, the one you met earlier, joins the other two and they seem to converse silently between themselves. Once in a while they'll look at you, or in their converstations they'll make a sound of agreement or disagreement, but other than that it's nearly silent.
Soon you realize you need to be moving on before dark, and as you take a step away from the three they leap away and look at you with startled surprise. You look at them appologetically and with a nod they seem to understand and walk back into the trees, tails waving a good-bye. You turn and walk on.
