The
2006 Oldies V Youngies 10th Annual Cancer Challenge Rugby League Match and
family fun day will be held at the Bicentennial Oval, Emu Park on Saturday
the 7th October .
All money raised from these days goes to the local Capricorn Coast Branch
of the Cancer Fund. So far our days have raised over $21,750.00. The 2005
day raised $2,750.85 for the local Cancer Branch.
You are invited to view this website and have a look around. There are some
great pics of the 2005 game and also from previous games. The pics give
a true indication of the skill and tenacity that it takes to become an "oldie
or a Youngie".
We also have pics of the Ironman Race, Soccer Challenge, the kids races
and the great crowd.
Also there is a brief history of the game and the people who have made it
such a fantastic family fun day.
Our sponsors over the years have also been listed and we wish to publicly

The
Oldies -v- Youngies Cancer Challenge Rugby League Match and Family fun day
is a fundraising day for the Capricorn Branch of the Central Queensland
Cancer Fund. The 8th October 2005 saw another fantastic clash. Entering
its 10th year the day has now raised in excess of $21,750.00 for the Cancer
Fund. the Oldies versus Youngies day has been sponsored by many local businesses
but none more than the Emu Park Lions Club, the Pine Beach Hotel, and our
local members of Parliament, Ms Kirsten Livermore, Member for Capricornia,
and the Paul Hoolihan, Member for Keppel. the former member for Keppel,
the Hon Vince Lester was a long time supporter of this event before his
retirement from Politics. The family fun day involves the Squeak Roberts
memorial Iron Man Race, kids races which are now sponsored by Tim McCall
of Dynamic Satelite Surveys, guys versus girls challenge soccer match and
the main event, being the Oldies_v_ Youngies Cancer Challenge Rugby league
match. the game is played at the Bicentennial Oval Emu Park. This site is
also featured on the emu park online website, a promotional site for the
township of Emu Park and the surrounding areas. The next Oldies v Youngies
is on the first saturday after the NRL Grand final.
