The tournament was delayed, near the end of round 1, due to heavy rain. After a delay of 12 minutes, the tournament was cancelled. Mark Hasty was the only player to complete his first round, with a score of 27, that would have given him a big lead if play would have resumed.

This tournament was the final points tournament of the year. Heavy rain earlier in the day caused players to make adjustments to some of their shots. With a win in this tournament, Mark Hasty would tie Chris Graham (did not play today) for first place in points. Mark would win the tiebreaker, which reportedly is the number of Springfield local tournaments played in 2006. Mark overcame a three-stroke deficit and aced hole 17 of his third round to take a one-stroke lead after 53 holes. Mark got a par on hole 18, which gave Matt Male a chance to force an 18-hole playoff. Matt did ace the hole. Unlike last week, Mark was unable to negotiate a victory without a playoff. The score was tied at -3 after nine holes. After Matt bogeyed hole 11, Mark aced hole 12 to take a two-stroke lead. Both players parred holes 13, 14, and 15. Matt aced holes 16 and 17 to tie the score and give Matt a chance for more 18th-hole heroics. Matt hit what appeared to be a very good putt, but the ball took an unusual bounce in the ring and failed to reach the top level, almost rolling back to the tee area before rolling back down the slight incline and stopping next to the ring and the left rail. Several minutes later, Matt missed his second putt and bogeyed. Mark's ball navigated the ring successfully, giving him a short putt for par and the win. Mark made the putt to win the playoff 32-33 and the 2006 points championship.
