It has come to our attention that the Jeef story "It Don't Mean A Thing If Jeef Ain't Got That Swing!" has, after 6 months since it was first published, has finally succeeded in pissing off Cherry Poppin' Daddies fans worldwide. If you recall, the adventure centered upon the band Cherry Poppin' Daddies converting the 2-Tone club, a local ska joint in Erie, Pennsylvannia into a swing revival HQ. Jeef and Jimbo must join forces with Jimi Hendrix's ghost, Nate Albert, and Mr. T to save Brett, who has been brainwashed by the Daddies into becoming a rampant swing fan. In the end, Jeef and company kick some serious swing ass and save ska from oblivion.

Getting to the heart of the matter, some Cherry Poppin' Daddies fans have recently read this story. Apparently, some of these CPD followers have huge rods up their asses (and some actually have a sense of humor. You know who you are. We thank you!), and there was one particularly nasty guestbook entry and an uncomplementary e-mail message to boot. In response to the one who calls him/her/it-self "maymay", yes, we do know that the Cherry Poppin' Daddies are actually a ska band. Sure they did "Vacationing in Palm Springs" with Reel Big Fish. But that doesn't mean we have to like them. For the record, their song "Don Quixote" kicks ass. Aside from that, their endulgment into swing was horribly lame and misguided. I'm sorry if you don't see this story as a clean cut jab at that. Perhaps we should rename the story to "Jump, Jive 'n' Fuck Yourself"?

As for your attack on our nature as ska fans, don't even bother. For a genre that struggles for popularity, ska's 'fans' make sure that new listeners are treated harshly for their lack of knowledge on the genre. That's why I steer clear of most ska message boards in favor of ska websites - the fans are turning into jerks, much different from the followers of non-violent activist fare like The Specials in the second wave. If you must know, we enjoy a wide variety of ska music, names quite different from the obvious half-dozen we used on the link section (which is intended as an intro for newcomers, not bluebeat washouts like yourself). Names like The Planet Smashers, Let's Go Bowling, The Donkey Show, Mad Bombers Society, Madness, The English Beat, The Specials, Judge Dread, Operation Ivy, Choking Victim, Blue Meanies, The Toasters, Mustard Plug, The Aquabats, The Slackers, Fishbone, and the list goes on. What would you prefer? Me to link some third-grade Skankin' Pickle fansite on Geocities? No, I think I'll just stick to a basic outline of the best ska has to offer.

In other news..., the new Jeef story is coming soon. I promise. Maybe by the 25th. I also apoligise for the lack of updates since the summer. In part, it is because the Jeef site has nearly sucked up all of its free space on Geocities. To sum up the situation for you, we have about as much space as Star Jones has in her blouse. It looks like the Girlfriend of the Week will be shut down completely. I do not have the energy and time to maintain such a weekly venture. (I might set up an archive somewhere) Instead, we'll concentrate more on Jeef stories and Jeef-related pictoral adventures like the Deathmatches.
