The Meadow

   You look outside and you can see a large open space dotted with tiny flowers.  It's a glorious day out, so you think it would be a great idea to go out and have a whiff of fresh air.  Just as you scamper out the door you are stopped by a 'what-exactly-do-you-think-you're-doing?' looking Lickety Split.  Of course, you remember, you have forgotten to get a lunch. 
    After nearly twenty minutes of quarreling with Lickety Split over if you should bring crackers or chips, you finally get out the door with out being stopped by anyone.  Once out you jog to the meadow and sit under the shade of a the only tree in sight, a large maple. 
    You take a small bite of sandwhich and are almost immediately disturbed by something you see out of the corner of your eye.  You do a double take but nothing is there.  Shrugging, you take another bite and see now three object in the sky.  You look up immediately but alas, nothing again.  Sighing, you take a drink of water and something small, and yellow come flinging through the sky, landing with a thud about twenty feet in front of you. 
    Sitting quietly, you see two graceful Pegasus ponies land beside the yellow heap. 
    "Oh will she never learn?" says the yellow one, looking quite exhausted.
    "I know exactly what she's doing wrong.  And everytime I tell her she tries her best but just can't seem to get a feel for it." says the white one with multi-colored hair back to her.  Just then, a redish unicorn pony comes galloping up to the Pegasi.
    "Is... is she... is she ok?" she asks out of breath.
    "Yes, Skyflier.  She's fine.  I don't know when she'll get the hang of it."  says the yellow pegasus.
    "At least she was born with wings, Lofty,"  says Skyflier.  "I wish I had wings, I can only imagine what it's like to fly.  Oh, I wish I could fly!  But nooooooo, I had to be born a land pony."
    A small groaning comes from the pile of what you think must be a baby Pegasus learning how to fly.  "St...Starshine...hello?  Lofty?  Skyflier?  Wha-what happened?"
    "Baby Surpise?" says Starshine, the white pegasus. "Are you alright?  You had a rough landing just now. "
    The little pony arises to her feet and spread her tiny wings.  "Okay, lets try from a running start," suggests Lofty.
   Lofty and Starshine take off running with Baby Surprise in hot persuit.  Lofty and Starshine spread their lovely wings and flap them and are taken up in the sky.  Baby Surprise flaps her little wings vigorously and gets a little ways up in the air. 
    "Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!" the little Pegasus squeals as she reaches up with Lofty and Starshine. 
    "See? Your getting it," says Lofty. 
    "Yay for Baby Surprise!!" yells Starshine.
    "Horay!" shouts Skyflier from the ground.  Lofty and Starshine swoop gracefully around and up and down and Baby Surprise imitates them, though not as graceful. 
   Skyflier turns around and spots you.  She canters towards you and greets you.  You both talk about Baby Surprise and flying.  When you happen you mention airplanes and hang gliders Skyflier goes completely bazurk but soon regains sanity.
    Finally, after a short while, they Pegs land and trot up to you.  They greet you nicely. 
   "Well, Baby Surprise, are you ready for another go?" asks Starshine.
   "I, um, well..." she studders, looking at you with her big eyes.  She acts awful antsy and wiggly.
   "Oh don't tell me the human makes you nervous!" says Lofty.  Baby Surprise nods and all of you laugh.  She smiles and Starshine says, "Well, if you're not gonna fly again, I guess we better go, it's getting kinda late."
   You all agree and head back to Rainbow Palace just before sunset.
