The Gardens

You decide you venture out once again to explore the Palace grounds.  As you amble about, you come to a very high wall covered in vines.  Further down the wall you spy an ancient looking door and decide to investigate.
As you enter, you walk under a beautiful trellis of roses and are greeted by the sound of birds chirping and the warm sun on your shoulders.  "Welcome to the Royal Gardens!" says a voice behind you.  You turn around quickly to find a yellow pony with pinkish hair walking towards you.
"My name is Posey," she says. "Feel free to explore the rest of the gardens.  I'll be over there working in the flower bed," she says as she points to where she is planting a row of pink, plump tulips.  You thank her and look around at your surroundings.  Everywhere, there are many flowers and trees.  You can hardly wait to start your next adventure.
You follow the path and it comes to a stream with a bridge over it.  On the other side, you see a bench and decide you will sit down for a while and enjoy the scenery and pleasant day.
"Hello," says a small voice behind you.  You turn and see a medium sized rabbit hopping towards you.  She stops about 5 feet from you and asks, "You're new here?" You nod.  "My name's Happy Hopper.  Welcome to our Palace Gardens.  I can't stay and chat, but enjoy your time here!"  Then the bunny hops off just as quick as she came.
You've decided you've rested long enough and continue on the dirt path.  Birds chirp happily in the trees and butterflies stop to drink nectar from flowers.  After a while, you come to a place where the trail divides and you realize that you have been walking for a long time.  You decide to take the path on the left because you can see a purple pony with magenta hair up ahead.  You think maybe you could ask what the fastest way back would be.  As you come nearer, you see that she is staring intently at another object, paying no heed to you.  You draw nearer still and see that this pony is Blossom by her symbol.  When you are no more that threee feet away you clear your throat loudly.  Blossom jumps about four feet in the air, giving out a yelp and looks around.
"Oh..." she says.  "You startled me!  I was having a conversation with Nutty the Squirrel."
"Howdy!" says the squirrel from his perch in the tree. You all exchange hello's and then you ask what the fastest way back would be.
"Why yes.  If you keep going, the path will divide again.  Take the one on the left.  From there, it will only take you a few minutes to get back to the main garden," she explains.  You give her your graditude and follow Blossom's instructions and you are there in minutes.
"There you are again!" exclaims Posey. "I was wondering where you got to."  You explain your exploration to her and say how you didn't realize how big this garden really was.
"Yes," she nods.  "Many creatures who come here don't realize how big this garden is until they get lost.  Well, I'm going to go weed that bed of daisies over by the fountain.  Your welcome to come if you please."
Strangely enough, you hadn't noticed the fountain there before and go check it out.  When you get there, you look at the fountain.  You step nearer and lose your footing on the curved edge.  You cry for help as you fall in.
SPLASH!  "Need some help?" Posey asks, rushing over to you.
"Yes! (gulp) I do," you say with a shiver.  "I can't get out of here!  The edge of the fountain is curved so much that every time I try to climb out, I slip!"
"Wait just a minute.  I'll get a rope to pull you out," she tells you.  "I wouldn't want to fall in there too,  or we would
really be in a predicament!"
You wait impatiently in five feet of ice cold water, which, even with an air temperature of 72 degrees, feels cold after a while.  'Boy,' you think.  'I wish she would hurry up!'  Just then, you see
her and Blossom galloping towards you, carrying a rope, out of breath.
"It was right where I thought I left it,"  says Posey panting, out of breath.  Blossom ties a knot in the end of the rope and tosses it to you.  "Here, take that end and we'll pull you out.  Ready?"  You nod.  They both pull with all their might and you eventually climb out, unharmed.  You explain how awful it is to fall in and how cold it is.  You thank them greatly and they suggest you go have a change of clothes.  Shivering, you head back, thinking that sounds like a good idea.

The segment that you just read was written by a very good pal of mine, Tootsie Tails.  She deserves all the credit since she wrote it and I just did some minor ajustments.  If you have an idea that you would like me to post please feel free to contact me.  Please do no copy any of Tootsie Tails' writing.
