Director: Winrich Kolbe Written by: Scott Miller and Kenneth Biller
"Lieutenant Thomas Eugene Paris, I hereby reduce you to the rank of ensign and I sentence you to 30 days solitary confinement." (Janeway)
Plot: Tom Paris defies his captain's orders when they discover that a planet made entirely out of water is losing containment. When he learns that the Monean leaders will not take action, he and a Monean scientist decide to take matters into their own hands.
* This episode was originally known as "Down Deep" * This episode also sees the long-awaited appearance of the Delaney sisters, who were first mentioned back in Season 1.
Memorable scenes:
* The Captain Proton scene with the Delaney sisters is quite good. * The underwater scenes are very impressive.
Some quotes:
"We can't expect an entire society to change because we think they should." (Janeway)
"My quarters. 0700. That's an order, *Ensign*." (B'Elanna to Tom)
My comments: Not a brilliant episode but still watchable. It was good to see Tom being his old rebellious self again as he did his best GreenPeace inmpersonation. The episode was visually impressive, the plot OK but it is not one of the best episodes of the season.
