Director: Les Landau Story by: Bryan Fuller& Harry Doc Kloor Teleplay: Bryan Fuller, Brannon Braga and Joe Menosky.
"Maybe this is the Collective's new strategy. They don't assimilate anymore, they just show up and look helpless." (B'Elanna)
Plot: A 29th Century Borg is created in a transporter accident when Seven's nanoprobes fuse with the Doctor's holoemitter. Fearing the consequences of what would happen if the Borg heard about this futuristic drone, Janeway leaves it up to Seven to teach the drone about humanity and individuality.
* J.Paul Boehmer was also seen in "The Killing Game", as a Nazi general.
Memorable scenes:
* Any scenes with One as his childlike innocence is wonderful. * Seven's reaction to One's death, where she is almost reduced to tears.
Some quotes:
"The lure of perfection is powerful, Captain." (Seven)
"Voyager is my Collective." (Seven)
"The Borg -- party-poopers of the galaxy." (The Doctor)
My comments: This was one of my favourite season 5 episodes. Jeri Ryan's acting is flawless, as is J.Paul Boehmer's. Boehmer's portrayal of the Borg drone is exceptional and it's a real shame that One was killed off. A brilliant episode worth watching again and again.
