"Parallax"
Production no. 802

Director: Kim Friedman
Story by:
Jim Trombetta
Teleplay by: Brannon Braga

"On the one side, I'm facing a Vulcan who wants to court-martial you. On the other, I'm facing all the Maquis who are ready to seize the ship over this. You've turned this into one lousy day for me, Torres."
(Chakotay)

Plot: The crew come across a quantum singularity and try to rescue a ship that's in trouble. However, after some time, they realise that Voyager is in fact the ship that is in trouble and all they've been seeing is a mirror-image of their own ship. It's then up to Janeway and Torres to save the day and find a way out of the singularity before it collapses and traps them inside.

Guest cast:

Josh Clark ("Lt. Carey")
Martha Hackett ("Seska")
Justin Williams ("Jarvin")

Some trivia:

*
This episode was originally titled "Ghost Ship" and "Deep Time".
*
B'Elanna is promoted to Chief Engineer in this episode even though Carey was really the one who should have been promoted.
* Martha Hackett has also played the Romulan T'Rul in DS9's "The Search, parts 1 and 2" as well as having appeared in the TNG finale "All Good Things" (although the scene she was in was cut out of the final version of the episode).

Memorable scenes:

*
The scene where the Doctor is shrinking are really funny. Robert Picardo is a great comedian!

Some quotes:

"You're going to have to give them more authority if you want their loyalty."
"Their's, or your's, Commander?"
(Chakotay and Janeway)

My comments: Quite a good episode though nothing too spectacular. The theme of conflict between the Maquis and Starfleet crews is great but I feel that some of the later episodes deal with it a bit better. It's a shame that this conflict is forgotten rather quickly though. Anyway, it's a good episode and Roxann Dawson does a good job as B'Elanna.
