"Maybe I kill myself slowly because I don't have the courage to do it quickly." (Lidell Ren)
Plot: Tom Paris is arrested and punished for killing a Banean military scientist, Tolen Ren. However, the punishment inflicted on Tom, to relive the last moments of his victim, begins to have a detrimental effect on Tom's brain so it is up to Tuvok to try and find out who was the real killer and why Tolen Ren was murdered.
Guest cast:
Robin McKee ("Lidell Ren") Ray Reinhardt ("Tolen Ren") Francis Guinan ("Minister Kray") Aaron Lustig ("Doctor") Henry Brown ("Numiri Captain")
Some trivia:
* Ray Reinhardt also played Admiral Aaron in TNG's "Conspiracy".
Memorable scenes:
* The scenes with Tuvok investigating the murder are quite good.
My comments: Not a bad episode. The whole episode takes on a film noir feel and has a rather good plot. Tuvok is also quite good in this episode and the mind meld was great. The only thing that is a little disappointing about the episode is that some of the characters are somewhat stereotypical.
