"What we don't know about death is far greater than what we do know." (Janeway)
Plot: Whilst exploring a planet, Harry Kim is transported by a subspace vacuole to an alien planet. However, his mysterious appearance on the planet begins to create chaos amongst its people and their religious beliefs because, to them, Harry has returned from the afterlife. When Harry begins to realise that his presence is causing so much religious turmoil, he plans to find a way back to Voyager, even if it means that he must use the Vhnori death stations in order to do so.
Guest cast:
Cecile Callan ("Ptera") Jerry Hardin ("Dr. Radue Neria") John Cirigliano ("Dr. Ranora") Jefrey Alan Chandler ("Hatil Garan") Robin Groves ("Hatil's Wife") Martha Hackett ("Seska")
Some trivia:
* Jefrey Alan Chandler previously appeared in DS9's "Facets" where he played a Trill Guardian. * Jerry Hardin has appeared in TNG's "Time's Arrow" and in "When the Bough Breaks" playing Samuel Clemens and Radue respectively.
Memorable scenes:
* The scenes between Harry and Hatil are very good, especially when Hatil begins to doubt his religious beliefs. * Scenes with Ptera are equally good.
My comments: This episode was by far one of the best season 1 episodes and one of the show's best "spirituality" episodes. It had a wonderful plot (I usually like any episode which deals with the whole afterlife and spirituality theme) and Garrett Wang really shone in his role. I really cannot see any flaws in this episode and I definately recommend it!
