Torlan's Promotion to Journeyman

Torlan knocks on the door softly before walking in. He stands awkwardly in the doorway and calls out, "You wished to speak with me, Journeywoman?" His tone is profession, and inquisitive, and he bounces idly from one foot to the other.

Kaeryn is sitting curled up on one of the couches, books and hides around her, a frown on her lips that shows she has been working a /little/ too hard... Upon hearing you enter, she lifts her head and nods, motioning for you to come in, "Torlan, I'm glad you came so quickly. Come, have a seat, will you?"

Torlan's eyes widen and he steps inside, slowly making his way to the appointed "seat." He sits and eyes Kaeryn carefully. He doesn't know her too well, and doesn't know why she would be calling him into her private quarters. He plays with his foot as he stares first at the floor, then at the ceiling, and finally, as if just noticing that Kaeryn was in the room, at the Journeywoman. "Now then," he asks, "What did you want to see me for?"

"Since when am I /journeywoman/ to you, Torlan?" Kaer asks, her tone slightly serious, but there is a sparkle in her eyes as she asks. "I was an apprentice with you not long ago, you know..." she states, a slightly wistful sound in her voice as she does. "I trust I didn't pull you from anything important?" she queries as she stacks up the papers around her, making it all neat...or is she looking for something?

Torlan blinks unknowingly as Kaeryn interrogates his use of titles. "Um, well, Journeywoman, er Kaeryn, I guess since you walked the tables you've sort of moved on?" As if the going down a checklist, he continues, "And no, I wasn't up to anything too important. Or risky." A wink and a glow of his eye show that he is beginning to act more like himself.

"I suppose so, but it just doesn't seem /right/ for you to call me that, you know?" Kaer suggests with a shrug of her shoulders. "Do you think there is a way to make you call me Kaeryn like you used to? We are friends, aren't we?" Her fingers land on something that rests beside her on the couch, just enough to cover up whatever it is that she has been searching for.

Torlan scrunches up his face as Kaer continues to interrogate and play with her hands. "Um, I'm sure, JKaeryn, there are any of a number of ways you could get me to call you Kaeryn again. And yes, we are and always have and always will be friends."

With a frown, Kaer studies you for a momment and then shakes her head, commenting, "Something doesn't seem quite right, Torlan. Something is... off." She gets to her feet and moves towards you, the small wooden box that she holds in her hands being opened as she does. "Could you help me out a little by removing the knot you wear...and replacing it with this, the knot that marks you as the Journeyman that you now are?" Finally, she can't help but laugh and smile and glow all at once.

Torlan is shocked, and his eyes bulge to show it. His jaw slowly drops down until it could practicly touch the floor, and he nods his head, perhaps his only means of communication at the moment. He begins to take off his knot and when done, manages a "Here" as he hands it to her. Beginning to regain his composure, he says, "Wow. I really didn't expect it like this....this...this is amazing!"

With an encouraging smile, Kaeryn takes the knot from the box and hands it to you, "Congratulations, Journeyman Torlan, and welcome to Journeyman-ship. You have worked hard, and I'm proud that I was able to be the one to do this for you..." With that, she leans over and wraps her arms around you in a hug.

Torlan gleefully accepts the knot and begins to put it on his leg? Perhaps out of sheer joy he momentarily forgets where it goes, and as he realizes his mistake he blushes radiantly. Knot fixed and readied, he is engulfed by Kaeryn and he squeezes and hugs her back. "Thanks!"

"We'll get you set up in your own room and everything soon, so you should go to the dorms and gather your things." Kaer grins and motions towards the door, "I'll help get you all set up, if you'd like.. and when you are moved and all, I'll make sure you know what you need to do and everything."

Torlan can't help laughing and grinning and beaming and has a hard time standing (partially due to still being in the hug) and walks quickly towards the door. "So, when I get my things together, where should I meet you? Or should I just leave them in there for now? And I really don't need a room all to myself... I could share with someone else."

With a grin, Kaer shrugs, "You already have a room set up right next to this one..." She steps to the door and motions for you to follow, "come see..."
