Friends of North Plains SkatePark
3rd Committe Meeting December 04, 2007 at 7pm
The meeting was called to order by President, Mike Broome at 7:00 PM. Mike and Dave said the City Council did not approve the designs for the skatepark that were presented. They want park quality equipment, nothing homemade will be approved. They have also requested that a survey be done of the homes surrounding the park to see what the homeowners views are regarding the addition of a skatepark to Jesse Mays. Glenn Warren volunteered to do the survey, since he is a homeowner who lives right across the street from the park. Tanya Golden, a skater and North Plains resident, was in attendance and offered to meet with the skaters to see just what they wanted in the skate park. The Lot size at Jesse May park is 50 x50 and it was discussed just what kind of equipment would fit in that size of an area. Tanya also suggested that her brother was a contractor who might be able to build some ramps comparable to park quality. She suggested a material called "Skate Light" for use in the equipment. T-Shirts were discussed further. The cost per shirt would be $5.00 for 50 or $ 4.00 for 100. They would just say "Friends of North Plains Skateboard Park" on the front. No decision was made on whether we would do this or not. We will still continue collecting cans and plan to have a can drive after the holidays. Kathleen said she could use more recipes for the Cookbook especially for salads, appetizers, soups and sauces. The Cookbook will be planned for a spring sale since there is no time to get it ready for Christmas. We will be putting it together through Morris Publishing who helps people publish cookbooks. The cost will be about $2.00 per book. Dave said the Mayor had suggested talking to someone at the Tony Hawk Foundation to see if they would have any funds available. Also, she suggested that there might be some grant funding available.
