0225H 27 Jul 2002 - Checking in

Well, i dun really have much exciting to write about, but i just thot i checked in here just for kicks... ok a few things to write about actually...

I got 2 more CFM offers yesterday... i can't take them all coz it'll mean i'll be over-working myself to death...

Still havent finished my IA report... hahaha

Went for dinner today with Motorola friends at Tokyo Sin, this jap restaurant at Marina Square which boasts of a ala carte buffet with over 80 items of food to choose from... dun go there... the food sucks in general...

Apparently, there's an outbreak of conjunctivitis in Singapore... i was one of the poor ones affected...

I miss watching
EPL soccer on tv... Liverpool rocks! ManU(re) stinks!

Ok thats all... goodnite

1327H 25 Jul 2002 - Jap Hap

Finally, i get my CFMs offer... Actually, got 2 offers... its a toss-up between Einstein's weirdness or basic japanese... einstein or japanese... einstein or japanese? eiestein or japanese? in the end, its sushi over bad hair-do...

sigh... its just another reminder that the new sem is looming ever closer... oh well its inevitable...

i like to leave you something to think about...

1948H 22 Jul 2002 - Sore Thumb

I have a blister at the joint of my right thumb. It hurts like hell. Got it from playing goalie in a fucked-up hand-me-down goalie blocker which leaves black marks on my palms whenever i use it. It sucks but its the best we can get right now i suppose.

School is due to start soon, and that means i won't be in exactly the best of moods...its gonna be such a chore trying to get back in to the swing of things.

Meanwhile, life goes on, sore thumb or not.  Whatever happens in life happens for a reason... yeah yeah cliche, but i do feel that there is always a lesson to be learnt from what happens to a person in life, its up to the person whether to heed the lesson or not

In any case, every second lived is one second closer to death...

I am so fucking hypocritical about heeding the lessons in life part, hope you are not like me...

Having a sore thumb sucks... think i shall just suck thumb..

0335H 18 Jul 2002 - Where's Kenny?

And so, i pulled myself away from working on my IA report to rush down for my drums lessons this evening, and what do you know? For no known reason, Kenny did not turn up! Wasted half and hour waiting at the CC for him to turn up before deciding its not worth waiting anymore... Where was he? Called him a few times on his HP but he did not pick up, nor did he return the calls... did something happen to him on the scale of what happens to South Park Kenny on an episodic basis? I hope not... I'm not that mean...

And so, here i m taking a break from working on my IA report... It's damn sian and boring...

And so, here i m, going to think of some stupid stuff to write about...

If every cloud has a silver lining, then why doesn't any of it drop as rain?

By the time you looked before you leaped, the bus would have already run over you.

Why kill 2 birds with 1 stone when you can just shoot them?

He who laughs last got the joke last.

If you have a rod that is longer than the diameter of Earth, if you put it on the ground, do both ends stay flat on the ground or will they be sticking out into outer space?

and here's the stupidest thing i can think of now:

Having to write a report for IA...

I think i shall go to sleep now..

0400H 17 Jul 2002 - Disbanded..
.

Damn! I forget to bring back the headband i bought just a few days back after tonight's training... it helped somewhat in keeping the sweat out of my face while i'm wearing the goalie helmet... guess i must have missed it while packing up, coz the lights at the court goes off at 10pm, and the headband's black... u get the idea... now do i go get a bright yellow one or do i make do without a headband... think i'll go look around for another one...

Just watched Harry Potter on VCD... ok, it was pretty enjoyable... i must be one of the last few to have caught it..... whatever

0020H 14 Jul 2002 - Durians and Bee
r

Neveer drink beer with durians... is that an old wives' tale, or is it really true? Went to Junming's place to celebrate his birthday after soccer, and although i turned down his offer of durians, i did eat the cake, which was actually a durian cake and contained durians... then after i got home, remembering i have to clear the beers in my fridge before their expiry, i happily poured myself
a Kilkenny... so am i gonna die after or before i finish this entry? i still have half a can's worth left... only time will tell...

I should sleep soon... gotta wake up at 5.30 tmrw morning to go to school by 7.30am for the matric fair... poor o' me will be stuck at a booth from 8 to 12 all alone trying to promote the sport of inline hockey to either School of Computing nerds or hot Bizad cutie freshies... depending on my luck... i hope i get lucky tmrw... kekeke

Listening
to A-Traxx on perfect 10 now... Hosted by Dick Thambi... Right now, he's playing the lead single of the latest Korn album which i bought asome days back... "Here to Stay" is the title... and he's actually playing an alternate mix of it... It's a really driving and strong metasl sound... and pretty good... but i doubt any of the song from that album will make it big in the Singaporean soppy-boyband-love-ballad-loving music scene... whatever...

I'm still alive... that's good

g

I only managed to really fall asleep ard 5am so i naturally proceeded to spend most of the rest of today curled up in a foetal position, snoring away like a pig... One question... Do pigs sweat? Why do people say "sweat like pigs?" Do pigs have sweat glands? Do they? Do they?

Actually they don't... so if someone sweats like a pig, he's not sweating at all... probably just panting away... hmm... i also read somewhere that pigs always lie on their right side... here's some more usele
ss porky trivia

Also, ever heard
of Pig Brother?

0243H 13 Jul 2002 - The Art of Procrastination and Pacin
g

My IA report is due in less than 10 days time, and i have not touched it at all... supposed to write a 30-page report, which thankfully includes the cover page, contents page, and the other extras within the page limit. For the whole week, i kept telling myself to wake up tomorrow and start on it... I am still telling that to myself... Luckily, i have a senior's report from Motorola to "refer" That is part of the Art of Procrastination...

While in my diarrhoea-ed state, i watched one of the many VCDs lying around in my room which i bought but have yet to watch. The movie i
s "Fargo" by the Coen brothers, which is one of the most highly-acclaimed "thriller" of 1996 by critics. Its not the usual SLAM-BAM, shoot-here-shoot-there, car-chase-here-car-chase-there kind of thriller with the token "Vase" actress thrown in for some sex appeal kinda show... Rather, it is a pretty slow-paced plot where the sequence of events is presented chronologically so that you know who did what all the time. Not mind-teasing kind of mystery thriller, and you wun be holding on to the edge of your seat(or in my case, bed)... In fact, in many ways, not blockbuster material...

But yet, the beauty of the film is the pacing itself... it grips you so loosely that if the director were to make half a mistake, u might fall asleep... The sleuth of the show is a pregnant cop chief who kinda bungles along in an almost-comedic manner towards solving the crime. And the crime in itself, is almost a comedy of errors, where the intended objective results in unintended actions...

The acting was also great... As an ensemble, the cast worked well to make the movie believable... Even the usually-over-the-top Steve Buscemi seemed realistic as a person. No over-acting here...

Most of the action takes place in a snowy landscape in Fargo, yet the white background forms a stark juxtapose with the darkness of the human heart, and the blackness of the comedy. It's not a film that leaves you satisfied at the end... Rather, there is a bitter-sweet aftertaste when the show ends... You may laugh during the movie, but you may not feel good about laughing after it...

By the way, the movie is based on a real-life events...

And it was meant to be a comedy...

Damn, maybe i should moonlight as a movie reviewer... think i can make it?

Actually, i just came back from meeting the guys for dinner and drinks. The outing was kinda supposed to be for Youcong, coz he said lets go drink on Friday, and bio girls at the same time. In the end, in a classic Uncle Wong move, he did not even turn up... I think Youcong owes us all a drink... haha

I am looking forward to playing soccer on Sunday, thanks to a break in the hockey league schedule for my team... Wooh
oo!

Ever been
to Seah Street Deli at Raffles Hotel? The food there coems in big portions, taste decent, and is reasonably priced. But what sets that place apart from other eateries is the service. The waiters are always smiling and oh-so-friendly when they come up to you. It's really a pleasure to have a meal there... Full marks for service!

1245H 10 Jul 2002 - Wet Morning, Sore Finge
r

It poured in the morning while i was sleeping... so cold that i had to wake up and close the windows... bleah... well, my right fore-finger is sore from hockey training last night... i tried on the goalie gear for the first time and kept goal last night... it's like a sauna in the full-body armour! although i wouldn't really know, since i've never been in a sauna before... kekeke... anyway, my finger is sore coz the orthodoz way to hold the goalie stick( which is heavier and has broader blade and shaft) is supposedly to grasp the flat edge of the shaft with your thump and forefinger... ok, a bit difficult to explain, but the thing is for a beginner goalie like me, my forefinger tends to grasp the shaft such that when i hit the ground to stop the puck, i actually jam my forefinger with the stick...

my right forefinger is now bruised with signs of blood clotting just beneath the surface of my skin... used a ice pack on it last night when i got home and thank god it isn't too swollen now... at least i can still type with it... tmrw, i'm gonna wrap it up before i go for training...

The mega bulky goalie gear is now sunning in my balcony... i hope the smell will clear out before i put it on again... phee-eew...

oh, also, i have not touched a cigarette for 2and a half days now... how long can i keep it up? only time will tell

Alright! Another CD-buying spree today... Actually what I really wanted to get w
as Aerosmith's new greatest hits album, "O, YEAH! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits", but i ended up coming home with Eminem's "The Eminem Show" and Korn's "Untouchables"...

Aerosmith rocks! Listening to the album as i'm tyoing this right now... haven't listened to the other 2 albums yet, but should be good... maybe i'll give a review when i have had a good listen to them...

Noticed that a lot of websites of bands/musicians are done up superbly... always a good experience to visit those sites... even if one is not a hardcore fan

2106H 1 Jul 2002 - Eat shi
t

An interesting fact: Hamsters eat their own droppings sometimes because they are unable to fully digest the nutrients from their food the first time they eat it. Thus they will eat their droppings again sometimes to get maximum nutrition from their diet... talk about waste management...

And on te topic of hamsters, probably the world's most famous hamster, Ronaldo, scored twice yesterday to give Brazil victory in the World Cup Finals... yeah, yeah, I'm sure everyone reading this should have known by now who won that game... but i was rooting for Germany to win coz i hate the Brazillian arrogance. Besides, Brazillian theatre just doesn't whet my appetite - cue Rivaldo... Oh well... Poor Kahn... my condolences to the Germans...

Other things that happened to me the past few days, inno particular order:

1. Got creamed 11-0 in our first game of the hock
ey league... not that it wasn't expected. We realise that a realistic target for our team this season is to at least achieve last in the table. Anything else is a bonus.

2. Help
ed Renee move to her new room in the lofty heights of Temasek Hall's prime real estate. She now has a room with a sea view... See? the sea!

3. Hakan "Can't score" Suker strikes the fastest goal in World Cup history. The 3rd place play-off was definitely more exciting that the finals itself. That game deserved to be the final.

4. I cleaned up my room! Yes I did! The floor is now visible to the naked eye once again

5. Can't, for the life of me, remember what i did on Friday... It's a blank...

Oh btw, i did end up going for trainng last Thursday... It was at Tampines however, instead of West Coast... much closer for me...

My drums lessons are supposed to start again this Wednesday if nothing goes wrong... I am looking forward to getting behind a drum kit and practising my strokes once again
