How
much is the amount in your ang pows? Some people get ang pows with
hundreds in them. Some have to collect lots of angpows to reach
a hundred dollars. Some hardly get any ang pows in the first place...
I
don't recall ever getting any ang pows with more than $50 inside...
and I don't have that many relatives to collect from, so whenever
I get a $50 ang pow (typically from my parents), it becomes a huge
percentage of my overall takings.
Of
course, I'm talking in Sing Dollars here... Hmm... maybe if i go
somewhere else like China, I can start talking about my ang pow
takings in the thousands at least...
Then
again, I am 25, and do feel a bit paiseh taking ang pows still...
I guess it's a custom after all, but still... 25 with my own income,
I should turn down the ang pows, right?
Nah...
I'll take whatever I can... hahaha
Anyway,
walked into this petshop today. When I stepped in, this lady (I
assume she's the boss) was attending to this malay family (dad,
mum, 2 kids). When she saw me, she turned to me and said, in a rather
rude manner, "Boy, what are you looking for?" Something
along that line.
What
irked me was:
1)
She called me boy
2)
Her tone
Granted,
she's probably an old hag, and probably has the right to call any
male "boy". But as I mentioned, I'm 25, and being refered
to as "boy" or "xiao di" by non-senior citizens
really peeves me off. I do not look that young! Do I?
And,
she sounded so so so rude. Renee agrees with me. Her tone was very
grumpy. Anyway, her shop did not really seem to be that well maintained.
It smelled very strongly of the stale smell of dogs, and even though
it was air-conditioned, it struck me as having a very dusty and
unkept environment. Pity the dogs that have to go through there...
I
can warn you which shop it is, but I don't wanna get sued by that
old bitch for slander...
I'm
just being bitchy. Yes, guys can bitch.
On
a lighter note, this salegirl at another petshop I went to today
was so helpful and nice. She was really friendly and ready to share
her knowledge about keeping pets. And even though she didn't have
what Renee and I were looking for, she was still so cheery and nice.
I would have felt paiseh to leave her shop empty handed.
Her
mannerisms kinda reminded me of Jaclyn Tay's tomboy image in the
serial, "Tian Shi De You Huo".
With
this kind of service, customers will definitely go back to that
shop. I know I will...
Petss
Kiosk at Serangoon North. Go there.
