0237H 31 Aug 2002 - Vehicular Humour and International
Relations Seen on the back of a van on my way home just now: "I may be slow, but I'm still ahead of you" And a Happy Malaysian National Day to all those from the land of ringgits and palm oil... There, I've done my part to help the Singapore-Malaysia relations... Now please stop picking on us... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0313H 30 Aug 2002 - Grabbi Grabs Equaliser Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers played out an exciting 2-2 draw at Ewood Park yesterday. Yes the game was very exciting... Liverpool seems to be playing more attractive and offensive football lately. This will shut all the critics up! Liverpool could have won the game afer a looping header by Riise put them 2-1up in the 77th minute, but Blackburn substitute, Italian striker "Cicio" Grabbi, scored with virtually his first touch of the ball after coming on to equalise for the home side. Earlier in the first half, David Dunn drew first blood for Blackburn after good work down the left by Damien Duff, and an intelligent dummy (notice the oxymoron) by Andy Cole (Unbelievable but true... maybe he just slipped.) The set-back stung Liverpool into action and they equalised through Danny Murphy off an Abel Xavier cross. Murphy himself set-up the flowing move with an exquisite back-flick to Xavier out on the right. Ok I really am looking forward to the rest of the season... Somehow, the Reds still lack the swagger of a championship winning team, but I'm encouraged by the displays so far... As long as the stay consistent, they will be definitely challenging for hte title come May next year... I've noticed that i usually leave a lot of typos on my blog... sorry lah... no spell-check... live with it... besides, you smart people should be able to figure out what i typo-ed. if you people can understand sms language like "mtg l8r @ stc. 4pm. c u", i'm sure things like htis shoudl be no prolbme... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 2115H 27 Aug 2002 - Dig in It's week 5 of the semester, and time to really dig my heels in and work hard for the rest of the year...but unfortunately, i'm not the type of highly-motivated and determined individual who can just work and work and work for results. I'm playful, and lazy, and a great procrastinator... makes me wonder why i'm studying engineering... perhaps i should have gone intoone of the other choices i had under the award i was given. i could have done Maths or Physics... 3 year courses, those... but then, if i had taken up those courses, chances are i'll be back at work in the airforce right now... which at this moment in time, doesn't seem like too bad a thing... anyawy, i'm rambling on... pardon me... i'm absolutely delighted with Liverpool's start to the season, 2 wins out of 2 games, 4 goals scored and none conceded. Just brilliant. Hopefully they can keep up the form and push for the league title this year... and yes, once again, Houllier seem to have been spot on with his pre-season signings... He is destined to become one of the Anfield great managers, alongside Shankly and Paisley... Ok time to get back to my work... nah, just a while more... lemme ramble a bit more... I wish i had more time this semester to go out and play... i wanna go to the beach to lie in the sun, or to go rollerblading, or to go out pubbing at night, or to just laze around at home the whole day... wonder if there's any profession that lets me do just that... wait, there is! The perfect career for me will be... to be a rich man's son... Dream on... In case you are wondering, no i'm not complaining about my family or parents, or am i really that caught up in being rich... it was meant as a joke. I wouldn't trade my parents and family for anything... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0038H 26 Aug 2002 - Proof of stupidity It's official... Penguins are stupid. __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1417H 24 Aug 2002 - It's not whether you win or lose... It's whether you end up looking like a loser... like those in here. I'm looking forward to soccer tmrw... hockey season's over so it's just Sunday soccer from now on =) __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1047H 22 Aug 2002 - Sunny Side Up Yeah, its damn sunny and bloody hot today... Totally dreadful weather for doing anything other than bumming at the beach watching the babes go by... unfortunately, 1, i doubt there'll be many babes at the beach at this time on a weekday, and 2, i'm not at the beach... duh I think Coldplay's latest single, "In my place", is just brilliant! Mentioning that now coz it just came on the radio. I think the Travis/Coldplay concert last year was still one of the best concerts i've been to... Is it just me, or do you coffee drinkers out there ever experience any after effects from coffee other than being unable to achieve unconsciousness? Ok, so i had some coffee just now during breakfast, and right now, my head feels very light and empty. Hmm... that could be coz my head is light and empty. But ever feel any other effects? like a need to pee more, pee with a distinctive coffee-smell, or a compulsive need to bite someone's head off? kidding abt that last one, but i'm sure some of you will have experienced some of the effects at least... if not, then i guess it's just me... I wanna get myself some new footwear later formy Sunday soccer. coz the pair of Nike crosstrainers i used to wear has lost its soul, i mean, sole... Getting too slippery to play in them, and everyone knows how hard it is to dribble like Denilson with slippery shoes, right? Anyway, go check out the Nike Football website. Some excellent stuff there. __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0106H 22 Aug 2002 - Life Phrase of the day: "If you fuck with the best, you'll suck like the rest" Life is precious. One moment of carelessness is all it takes to lose it. Be thankful for every breath you take. yada yada you get the idea but i'm serious. Life is precious. Then again, if life is so precious, why do i have to put myself thru all the suffering in school, when i should be enjoying life? bah! Piece of advice: if you happen to see a shooting star, "make a wish, make a wish" I'm in a crappy mood. Back to my schoolwork, i go... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0133H 21 Aug 2002 - Red is in Liverpool beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Sunday. Yeah yeah old news, but i haven't gotten round to blogging since then... Ok, so people may say back to the boring old Liverpool that plays negative football and defends after scoring, but on the contrary, if you watched the game, you would have seen that Liverpool looked bright in their attacks, and if not for some excellent work by the Villa goalkeeper, the score line would have been much greater. And mind you, Villa din actually have a bad game either. In the end though, a 3 points to the Reds was still the fair result. Woohoo! Onwards tothe championship! On a personal note, played my last game in the hockey season on Sunday. Ok, so i leaked in 9 goals as the goalkeeper, but our team managed to score 3, which is more goals than we have scored in any single game this season. Woohoo too!!! From now on, no more hockey games on Sundays or obligatory training sessions for me... Its just back to Sunday soccer at RI for now... Woohoo three!!!!! I'm actually taking a break from studying for a Japanese mini-test that i have tmrw at 10am... yes, a break... i feel like sleeping, but i still have a fair bit to study... so... i guess i have to get back to it soon... My days are getting more and more boring with all the school stuff to concentrate on... wish school wasn't so important right now, then i can probably do more things that i wanna do... like laze, watch movies, go blading at East Coast, go clubbing at night, do anything and everything except school-related stuff... but nnooo... i have to study to get my second lower honours, else i have a lot of explaining to do to the good folks who awarded me the Academic Training Award... Actually, after all these years in NUS, i come to realise that engineering isn't the thing for me... but unfortunately it's too late for me to do anything about it now. such is life. the thing about learning from your mistakes is that most times its too late... bleah... I feel like having a fag right now... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0329H 18 Aug 2002 - Everything Zen Bought a couple of CDs at a bazaar at the forum the other day. First was "Sixteen Stone" by Bush, and the second was "Odelay" by Beck. 2 old but classics from 2 acts with very different stlyes of music, but i luv both the albums. Bush's "Sixteen Stone" was the album that propelled them to stardom with a string of Billboard Top 10 Singles, including one of my all time favourites, "Glycerine". They have a very distinctive rock sound and lead vocalist, Gavin Rossdale, has a very charismatic voice. Beck's "Odelay", while not producing any real commercial hits, was a critically acclaimed album, and it was not difficult to see why. The album contains 14 very smooth and groovy tracks which are easy on the ear and great to chill out to. Beck plays almost all the instruments himself, and does a lot of sampling in this album. Absolutely brilliant! Ok, so I'm not really doing justice to the 2 albums with my crappy reviewing, but hey, it's 3 plus in the morning, and I'm dead tired... Just trust me, these 2 albums are superb! Besides, each CD was $10.90. How sweet is that? Actually, before i chanced upon those 2 CDs, i actually planned to go down to Tower Records to get The Jam's hits collection, and Jame's live album. I was saved the trip plus the extra cash... But i have a feeling those 2 will end up in my collection someday, but not this month... Man, i need to sleep... Good nite __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1522H 15 Aug 2002 - Slow-Mo in the Fast Lane... and the only traffic I'm holding up is my own... Sigh... Work is really starting to pile up and i should have started my school work on time, instead of procrastinating and slacking... well, guess its not too late for me to realise it now and actually do something about it... Which i am, of course, abd which is why i haven't been updating this blog as often... and also all the going out at night seems to have reached an abrupt end... well almost anyway... still can afford them once in a while... if not for those sessions, i'll probably explode someday like a pop corn! i'm corny enough for that to happen... ok, so i went to the no doubt cum cranberries concert. it was good, but frankly it wasn't great. Gwen Stefani was great. So was the drummer for no doubt, who came on stage and played through-out in a baby-doll dress and ultra red lipstick. sheesh... hope that's not the only way for a drummer to get recognition... overall, i think the music was good, but the crowd sucked. not that they were not happening, but really, i saw many scenes of the ugly singaporean popping up... frankly quite disgusted. such is ife in singapore i guess... we'll just have to be tolerant and live with 'em... oh, Bernard "Spin or Solve?" Lim and Jamie "Ah Lian" Teo were sitting right behind Renee and I... or rather standing, but they only lasted there for the duration of the cranberries set. i think they were too disgusted by the ugly singaporeans behind us to stay for the no doubt set... ugly ugly ugly yuck yuck haven't touched any alcohol for almost a fortnight... not that i'm alcoholic, but back before school started for me, beer was consumed once every 2-3 days at Broadwalk at Marina Square. Miss those carefree days... ah... writing here is so therapeutic, i dun wanna stop... dun wanna stop... hmm, but these days have been filled with work and work, to talk abt them here would be to bore you... so how? Guess i'll just have to stop writing... gotta stop writing... stop... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1730H 12 Aug 2002 - Hecti-city School's starting to heat up... This sem is gonna be a real killer, man... I'm so over-whelmed by the amount of work I have to do and will have to do... Hope I get thru this semester in 1 piece... Besides that, I dun really have much else to say... really... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0246H 6 Aug 2002 - Yoda says: "Do or do not, there is no try" Try to remember that... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1750H 5 Aug 2002 - Failure and self-inflicted defeat Failing to plan is planning to fail... looks like i'm on my way to failing this sem... hahaha... nah... i'll fluke my way thru as per the previous semesters... school sucks when u r still in the holiday mood... Liverpool finally got their act together and played a decent game last ight when they beat AC Milan 2-1... courtesy of an own goal and a Milan Baros header, both set up by Steven Gerrard. Seems like without Gerrard, Liverpool's pretty toothless... hope they get that sorted out soon... Milan's goal sinks Milan... what a headline... __________________________________________________________________________________________ 2246H 4 Aug 2002 - Ouch My throat hurts... Ouch... Din play today in the league... it hurts everytime i swallow... maybe i should just spit... kekeke I feel so unready for school even though it's already been one week... i wish i can just slack for another month or so before i start school... make that one year or so... there is still so much bumming left to be done! __________________________________________________________________________________________ 0013H 3 Aug 2002 - Aiyah "Naked Friday" has just passed... damn... waiting to watch Liverpool play Real Madrid later at 3.30am... woohoo! __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1019H 2 Aug 2002 - Suddenly, everything seems so clear Or at least that's the current state of the sky now... ok, not exactly... its actually pretty cloudy yet its sunny at the same time... a cool kind of sunny coz its not too hot... cloudy yet everything is so visible and clear... The sky is a beautiful shade of... well... sky-blue... and the clouds look so fluffy, they remind me of cotton-candy... this is the perfect weather for... erm... well... talking about weather... Anyway, isn't that how people start small-talk? A: "Fine/Nice/Good/Bad/Terrible/Fucked-up weather today, eh?" B: "Yeah" A: "..." B: "..." A: "Ok-bye-cya" B: "Bye" Sounds like a horrible mistake to make on a date... so all you single horny guys out there better not rely on the weather to get you anywhere with your dates... unless of course its raining cats and dogs, and your date is wearing a white top, and both of you have to cross the road without umbrellas... Drool... As you probably should have realised by now, I'm in a incoherent mood again... it's probably coz i had training til late last night and had to make my way down to school for 8am lecture today... I blame it all on COEs and Road Tax and petrol prices... If not for them, i would probably be driving to school... But then again, if i get to drive around, my chances of getting caught in the rain with a date wearing a white top is reduced... hmm... guess i'll just have to stick to buses and MRTs, since the rainy season is upon us... kekeke __________________________________________________________________________________________ 1336H 1 Aug 2002 - National Month This is the month of Singapore's birthday. Lots of flags hanging out these days... The colour to wear for this month are red and white... Think i need to stock up on red and white undies... __________________________________________________________________________________________ |
