DOODLE MASK TAG

Supplies

Jasc/Corel's Paint Shop Pro any version.

Tube of Choice -  For this tutorial, I used a delightful image created by Suzanne Woolcott.  You can purchase her wonderful art in tube and full form at AMI which stands for Artistic Minds, Inc.

Please remember, when creating your signature tags, to only use permission art and to apply the copyright information on the tag which would include both the artist's name and online gallery link.  If  you have purchased a commercial image, do add your license number as well.

CREATING THE  BASIC TAG

Step 1

Open up your tube graphic, a new transparent image 700 width by 700 height and the doodle mask.

At the Material Palette, select a deep solid color that will coordinate with your tube graphic.

Flood fill the transparency with that color.

Step 2

Go to Layers/New Mask Layer/From Image.  At the source window's drop down menu, locate  the doodle mask with source luminance checked.  Nothing else should be checked.  Click ok.

Step 3

Go To Layer/Merge/Merge All (flatten).

Step 4

Left click the magic wand and set the magic wand with the same settings as above. Left click the magic wand in the oval area of the tag to select it.

Step 5

Make your tube graphic active and go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  With the mover tool, move the tube image so that most of it fits within the selection.

If the image is too large to fit within the selection, go to Image/Resize using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Left click the mover tool and move the resized image within the selection.

Step 6

Go to Selections/Invert and click the delete key.

Go to Selections/Select None.

Step 7

Open up the layer palette, and on the layer with the tube graphic, move the opacity setting over to the left so that the tube graphic blends into the color of the oval area of the tag taking on that coloration.

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten).

Step 8

Make your original tube graphic active again and go to Image/Mirror. Go to Edit/Copy.  Make the tag image active and go to Edit/Paste as New Layer.  This time paste the entire tube graphic image on the right side of the tag.  If the image is too large, go to Image/Resize using the percent option, bicubic and resize all layers NOT checked.

Step 9

Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the settings from above.

Step 10

Go to Image/Resize using the percent option at 90%, bicubic and resize all layers checked.

Step 11

Add your copyright information.

Step 12

Left click the crop tool and going from left to right and down, draw a rectangle around the area you wish to keep, eliminating any excess white palate not being used.  Double left click within the rectangle or left click the check mark in the crop ribbon.

Step 13

Go to Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten) and save your tag as a jpg to use as a template.

Step 14

Select your font and add your text to your tag.  Resave the tag with a DIFFERENT name.  This way you can use your template over again to make tags for others.

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
