VICE SQUAD DBD Kingswood Tavern, Nuneaton, UK Sunday 26th June 2005 THE morning after the night before,,, still feeling like shit,,, Vice Squad last night went down a storm in Nuneaton, UK. Not a great turn out but a very good natured crowd. The support band was a band called DBD---Death by Decibels which hail from Warrington, UK. They were ok for young punks, but nothing to write home about. They reminded me a lot of a local band from Nuneaton. They played a tight set and for anyone who danced they gave away a three track CD ...very novel idea to get you band better known. They come across as a mix of the Clash, Rancid, or maybe the Dropkick Murphy's. Anyone wishing to know more check out their site at www.deathbydecibels.co.uk. What can be said for Vice Squad, is with age Beki's vocal's are more sharper then ever before. Beki's image is still embodied into my mind as the Princess of Punk!!! Flicking through old copies of Punk Lives mag's as if yesterday and here she stood before me and not really aged with time. They take to the stage and ripped though newer stuff with a slight SKA sound but holding their set tight and greeted the crowd with pleasure. A few tracks later and the old guns are performed.... 'Stand Strong Stand Proud' and 'Last Rockers'. Not a long set but what Nuneaton got for their money was well worth the visit! SID (Nuneaton) |
