October File Qeens Hall, Nuneaton, UK Thursday 20th October 2005 Gotta stop drinking eight hours before the doors open, you name it and I drank it. Not many people about for the first few hours but in walks a good mate of mine Reggie, but he ain't up for seeing the League tonight because he's on the night shift, but this don't stop him knocking back the Vodka's, so drunk in charge of a fork-lift he's banged to rights. Few hours into the session and there's a few faces turning up, which is good to see, and its drink, drink, drink for Siddeny the Punk Rocker. Funny thing is years of going to see bands play round England and you always bumped into the crazy Bonehead or the nutty Punk, but tonight they're thin on the ground! The doors open and the League ain't about, Animal and the boys are having a low key night which is a shame because I like to get a few shots before they come off stage, but each to their own and this is their night so its business as usual for me and I'm heading to the bar. The place fills up quite quick and the first band take to the stage, which go by the name of October File. It seems like they rip though their set and then they head back stage. I never really cared for them that much. What is it with support bands these days, shit name's and crap music to go with it, now if your sitting at home on your PC reading Peter Don't Care's site, and your thinking hold on a minute, that band your slagging off are the best band I've ever seen, my answer to that mush is get your fucking ear's checked out my son! Bollocks is bollocks and these were great big gonads!!!! But don't believe me go and check them out for yourself, I was pissed as a twat so they could have been better than this write up seems to say? Few drinks more and Animal and the boys are on stage, fitted out in his wraps they ain't no mistaking this loveable rough. Soon he's whipped up the crowd and they're jumping about like crazy psychopaths, 'So What', 'Streets Of London', 'I Hate People' all bang on. They also played some stuff from the 'Scum' album but its soon back to old time League with 'Woman', 'Fuck Around The Clock' and 'For You'. One of the Nuneaton crew loves it that much he's jumping on and off the stage like a fucking yo-yo, unfortunate for anyone in his crash site though, because he ain't no slim Jim (tee hee - PDC). As the tub of lard proved when he came crashing down on top of me. There was a short delay in the set down to a fucked guitar but they're soon knocking them out again. The Nuneaton boys here love it, they're all on the dance floor...Dude, Bronto, Wayne, Scott, Wilf, Mick and of course the tub of lard! Just like to say to Wayne thanks for ripping the arse out me trousers! It seems like I cannot go to a gig these days without coming home with me bollocks hanging out!!! The League do one encore and the night is done and dusted. I grab Animal for a quick chat afterwards and a couple of photos, funny thing is up close he's quite small, then again that could be because I'm six foot three. I bid him farewell with the rest of the tour and make an exit. Walked into a little disagreement one of the lads is having, but fuck all comes to it, and for me that's were I call it a night. First time the Anti Nowhere League have played Nuneaton but come again soon, its bands like yourself that make Punk Rock what Punk Rock is, pure impact straight to the brain. SID (NUNEATON) |
