FEAR OF FEAR
1 IN 12 CLUB BRADFORD
Sunday 3rd December 2006

When arriving at the 1 in 12, I’m always struck with the good
atmosphere. I made straight for the bar, Sam smiths cider is
always a winner! I found some chairs and waited for the
bands to begin. First up were
Fear of Fear, it was my first
time seeing these guys but it will not be my last! First thing
to hit me was how tight the rhythm section was, thumping
bass and split timing on the drums gave this band a back
bone of steel, then the guy on guitar - fast buzzing, but as
crisp as fuck! If I had the talent to play the axe this is how I
would want to do it! Last but not least the vocals. Now to me
Sarah sounded great when singing alongside Colin, when
she and John were part of
Conflict, but she takes a well
deserved centre stage, angry and passionate but still in
perfect harmony with the rest of the band. Like I said first
time I have seen these guys and it won’t be my last. They
should have a myspace site soon , so keep them peeled.

Next came my big fuck up of the night. I came to check out
Refuse/All but in my haste to interview Liberty missed all
apart from the last three songs but my partner said
“they
were excellent”
and of that I have no doubt. I was lucky
enough to grab a few words with Alex their lead singer. He
came across as a  decent guy, a lot of people may have
thought that he was just a replacement for Dave Floyd, but
this could not be further from the truth! With all new songs,
which you can hear on the CD ‘Have A Happy Holiday In
Guantanamo Bay‘ the tracks are all quality, but the ones
that stick out to me are the title track and
‘Oh For Fox Sake’
(being a geriatric sab myself). This is available from
ALEX_REFUSE@YAHOO.COM or visit their website at
www.refuse-all.tk Their next gigs in the future will be with
Toxic Reasons next April 20th to 23rd 2007, which will take
place in Edinburgh, Leeds, London and last but not least
Andover. If you have any questions about gigs I’m sure
Alex will help you out. But most importantly, check them out
live! And don‘t be a twat like me and miss them!

Then came Liberty. Like Refuse/All, these guys mean it.
Intelligent and passionate and with a sense of realism in
their lyrics! And they could not help a little dip back into the
past, with the
Crass classic ‘Punk Is Dead’ which was
alright by me. These are one of the best bands I have seen
for years and remind me why at the age of 40 I still love this
music with all my heart! They finished the set with a fine
tribute to the much missed STIG, fucking perfection. I spoke
to the band whilst
Refuse/All were playing (twat!) and like
Alex, they were a breath of fresh air! Much needed in my
humble opinion. One comment that stuck with me was
“stop the bitching in the scene because the energy is
not being aimed in the right direction”
wise words. These
guys have an album coming out and a 7 inch single (yes
vinyl) I believe being distributed by Steve DIY
(Gawd help
em!!- PDC)
. To find out more you can contact them on
www.myspace.com/LIBERTY2005 and www.LIBERTY-TK.
As with all the above bands get out and see them live!

Last of all came the
Inner Terrestrials of which we saw
about 3 minutes, due to the shitty train timetables, but
although I missed most of their set, it was fucking brilliant to
see Paco, back where he belongs, behind a drum kit! The
mans a god! The end of a strange night for many reasons,
but a great one, cheers!
