Currently, in the country of Sudan, there is a genocide going on. The United Nations has officially declared it as a
genocide, but can not do that much to assist the people of Sudan. The majority of the killing takes place in a reigon
called Darfur due to war with rebel groups. About 2,500,000 civilians have been displaced because of their villages being
torched. Over 200,000 Sudanese have escaped to the neighboring country of Chad, but most are trapped in the reigon of
Darfur.
Recently, Amnesty International has started a campaign called Instant Karma which is designed to help raise
money and give it all to the people of Sudan in order to assist the people who are going through a horrible genocide. They
are raising the money through donations and through the recent album put out around the world titled:
"Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur".
This album is a very unique album because it is made up of nothing but John Lennon songs which were redone
by various artists who voulenteered their time to sing on this album for a better cause. These artists did not do this
album as a publicity stunt, they did this album because they believe that the people of Darfur need our help. They did
this album because they believed it was the right thing to do to help their fellow man. The album features bands and
artists such as: Green Day, Jack Johnson, Aerosmith, Los Lonley Boys, Avril Lavigne, Black Eyed Peas,
Postal Service, and many more.
These artists are acting out of faith. They are putting themselves out on the line by preforming
for nothing because they believe it is the right thing to do. They believe that their music can influence the world
and change it completely. They believe in something bigger than themselves and have realized that there are more
problems than the ones of the United States. This is why these artists and Amnesty International have faith.
I would highly encourage everyone to purchase this album because it is beautiful music and it goes to a
great cause.
This is a horrible thing for any person to go through, please donate to this fund if you can.
Would you bleed for your brothers and sisters in Darfur?
